He was a blubbering mess. He didn't FaceTime but I could hear it in his voice.
"Baby, I can't do this without you. I need you here with me" he said while crying down the phone. "I know you have your career and I'm proud of you, but please come here as soon as possible... I need you... I'm even cuddling the bear you got me but it's not the same..."
"baby... don't cry or I'm gonna cry..."
"I'm sorry, love. I just miss you so much. Nothing feels right without you here"
"I know, baby... I know... well I'm finished up here so I'll see if I can get the earliest flight to you. just hang in there, baby..."
"Thank you, love. I'll be waiting for you" he said with a shaky breath
"keep staying strong. Just keep yourself calm and find something to distract you or you'll have a panic attack and pass out somewhere. Keep cuddling the bear. have a sleep if you need to. just find something to keep you calm"
"Okay..."
"I'll be there soon. Just don't move"
I got on the next flight. I got into the paddock and ran straight to his driver room and I found him in a ball on the floor with the bear. I held him close in my arms. He was crying even more than he was over the phone.
"I'm here, baby. I'm here" I said. He literally burst into even more tears.
"I missed you so much, love. I thought I couldn't go on without you here" he said.
"you're shaking like crazy..." I said while holding his hands
"I know, love. I'm sorry. It's just...I can't do this without you"
"I'm here now... calm down, baby, or you'll pass out..." I said while wiping his tears. He slowly started to take small breaths. "Come on... keep breathing. I'm not going anywhere... I'm here now. I'm not gonna leave you again... I'll cancel photoshoots if I have to"
"That's not necessary, love. I just need to know you're here with me. And if there's something more important than my races, I want you to go ahead and do it. Just please always remember that I need you, too"
"I'm not having you in this state again. you feel like you're on fire" I said as I put the back of my hand to his forehead. He was actually sweating. "come on, we've gotta cool you down before you pass out" I said as I pulled his fireproof shirt off and was fanning my hands to cool him down
"You have no idea how much that helps, love" he said
"just stay in my arms... I'm never letting you go again" I said as I sat next to him and pulled him into my arms. He buried his face in my hair and neck.
"You're my lifeline, love. My anchor when everything else feels lost. I don't know what I'd do without you"
"Well you won't have to think about that anymore. I would quit my whole modelling career for you"
"You would?? But your career means so much to you"
"I would do it a thousand times over. I'll try and move around some photoshoots for the rest of the year. I'll try my best to keep them away from race weekends"
"That's more than enough, love. I can't ask for anything more than knowing you're willing to make sacrifices for me. I can't believe I almost lost you"
"you didn't almost lose me. I was just in another country. I know it hurts to be separated but we've got an unbreakable bond. we were separated for 17 years but we still found each other"
"You're right, love. And I promise to never let anything come between us again. I'm yours forever"

"That's exactly what I want to hear, love. You are my everything, and there's nothing in this world that could ever change that"
"you know... maybe we could do a photoshoot together? don't you have a new line of your merch coming out soon?"
"Now that's an idea! Yes, I do have a new line coming out soon. I'd love to have you by my side for that photoshoot, love"
"We can do it together. I'll model everything you want to. plus, we can then get some silly pictures of us to hang up in our bedroom"
"I can't wait to see you strutting your stuff in front of the camera again. And yes, let's definitely get some silly pictures too."
"how about we go find a Photo Booth in a minute and take some silly photos in there?"
"Sounds like a plan, love. Let's do it"
