Alma had found y/n laying in bed, staring at the ceiling as silent tears streamed down her cheeks. Confused and worried, the older woman walked over, taking a seat on the edge of the bed.
"Y/n?" She says, gaining your attention and you glanced over for a second. "What's the matter?"
You didn't say anything, too tired and upset to form a sentence and just shook your head, rubbing away your tears.
"Y/n, please tell me?" She says softly, her hand trailing through your hair and you finally let out a small gasp through your quiet sobs.
"She broke up with me." Is all she managed to get out, her breath hitching as she chewed on the inside of her cheek to try and keep her tears in.
Alma looked over her, surprised and feeling bad for the woman, gently bringing her hand down to cup her cheek, y/n not fighting the touch.
"Oh darling, I'm so sorry." She says in a soft, caring tone, her eyebrows knitted together in worry. "Is this why you've been up here all day?"
"I couldn't shut myself up, I'm sorry." You say quietly, your chest aching and wiping away more tears that fell and to avoid the woman's eyes.
"Y/n.."
"I'm so sick of everything." You say with a sniffle, staring at the ceiling as tears ran down your cheeks. "I don't want to live without her." You say quietly.
"Y/n, don't say that." Alma scolds lightly but the younger woman didn't say anything, staring at the ceiling, your eyebrows knitted together in pain as your hands shook slightly.
"Y/n, please look her."
"Please leave." You say simply and Alma sent her a caring but stern look.
"Not after hearing what you said."
"I just want to be left alone." You say, your nails picking at the corner of your other hand.
"Don't you want anything to eat? We could go to town tomorrow if you'd like. We can go anywhere you'd like." Alma says softly and you shook your head, staring intensely at the ceiling.
"I just want to be alone." You manage to say as tears piled in your eyes and eventually, the ymbryne left.
You couldn't sleep, tossing and turning all night long but the thoughts of her kept you up. How you could've done things differently, how desperately you wanted to fix it all. You didn't notice till you seen the sun coming up, knowing Miss Peregrine would expect everyone to be up soon. But you didn't want to get out of bed. Without her, everything didn't feel the same. You didn't have that person you could talk to daily, it felt so different and you hated it.
It was confusing, she left without explaining why. Just broke things off without an explanation and ignored everything you had said. You just wanted to fix things, it could've worked, but the effort was only one-sided. Her feelings had faded.
You felt tears build again in your eyes, an ache in them from staying up all night and crying. Everything felt too much. Your chest ached with the thought of what happened, your breathing shallow as you tried to swallow down your tears, but you couldn't.
How could a person you've known for so long, become a stranger in just over a day?
"Y/n? I want to talk to you please."
You heard the ymbryne at the door and didn't bother saying anything, eventually hearing her open the door and finding you awake in bed, staring outside the window.
"I brought you water, make sure you drink it." She says and sets it on the nightstand, your gaze not moving from the window as silent tears ran down your cheeks. The older woman noticed, bringing her hand down to gently wipe them away.
