Y/n flew fast through the thicket of trees, her rather large wings knocking into the branches, cutting through her scales and she fell down into the grass with a shout. She was trying to outrun a group of hunters, all because she made the careless mistake of shifting just to go for a fly. Out of everything, a dragon. Though to be fair, she couldn't shift into anything considered normal.
"Come on, damnit!" Y/n snapped, getting back on her feet and ran faster, trying not to slip on the sand underneath her. It was difficult to run, a gaping wound under where her wing was located was aching and bleeding horribly, leaving a noticible trail for the hunters to follow.
The woman flew as hard as she could until her wings gave out, eventually resorting to running when she seen a nearby cave. In hopes she could hide, she spread her wings and flew as fast as she could, just about to make it to the entrance when a searing pain occurred in her wing. She let out a horribly loud shriek, the arrow cutting through the thin skin of her wings, only tearing more when y/n tried to fly. She quickly flew through the cave until she collapsed, her wings giving out from both the pain and exhaustion.
Y/n didn't take notice of the children who were nearby, slowly shifting back from her previous form, her muscles burning and aching with every breath she took. The woman didn't bother trying to work with having her wings leave, knowing she was too tired, and let them lay against the rather cool grass. Her claws remained on the tips of her fingers, digging into the soil with each heart beat that stirred pain in her wounds. Her clothes were ripped under her wings and arms, her pants town up to her knees, showing all of the bruises and cuts that covered her skin. Her breathing was heavy, both from running and the pain, her throat to hoarse to bother saying anything.
Y/n shut her eyes for a moment, too dazed and in pain that she didn't notice or hear someone approaching until she felt something drape over her. Immediately she snapped her eyes open, swinging a clawed hand over to cut whatever was near and the person immediately backed off.
"Get away from me!" Y/n tried to shout, but her throat closed up and it came out weak. The woman took a good look over the person standing just a few feet from her. It was a woman who seemed to be a bit older than herself, adorning a navy blue jacket. Before she could take in any more details, the stranger took a step forward and y/n flared her wings out slightly as defense, letting out a small pained noise from the wound spread across her back.
"Stay away." Y/n growls, sending her a fierce glare as she looked around to see where she was, noticing a blanket that the stranger must have tried to place over her.
"I won't hurt you, you're safe." Her voice was awfully soft and comforting, though y/n still held some doubts about her when the ravenette tried taking another step towards her.
Y/n held most of her tension and was ready to strike, the stranger keeping a good distance between them before slowly moving forward to pick up the blanket that had been tossed aside. The younger woman watched her every move as the person walked towards her, her claws digging into the ground, expecting her to hit her or worse and she shut her eyes with a small flinch. Though she didn't feel the sting of her hand, but instead gentle ones that carefully brought the blanket over her shoulders. Y/n slowly glanced over at her, still unsure, her heart racing as she anticipated her next move, but the stranger backed off after doing so.
"My name is Alma Peregrine." She says, her voice hush and soothing, her blue eyes searching over y/n's. "Who are you?"
"Why do you want to know?" Y/n was quick to snap back, her gaze still holding uncertainty in it as she looked over the woman in front of her.
