"So this is it?" Enoch mutters, looking over the warehouse that was near the local pub. Fake cobwebs and spiders covered the entryway, not as scary as y/n assumed but turned around and sent them all a smile.

"Oh lighten up!"

"Isn't a haunted house supposed to do otherwise?" Horace says and y/n raises an eyebrow.

"I took you all here to enjoy yourselves. Don't make me feel bad for inviting you to do something fun." She says and catches Alma's gaze from behind the group of children. "And do you have any idea how hard it was to persuade her to do it?"

"You certainly had to put up a persuasive argument." The ymbryne mutters, y/n being the only one who caught the slight smirk on her lips and blushed slightly.

"Anyways, who wants to go first?" The woman says, stepping aside from the entrance with a bit over the top smile, trying to make them excited.

"Me!" Claire says with a grin, walking over to her when y/n caught her by the arm.

"Emma, why don't you go with her? I probably should have mentioned, the younger kids have to stick together with the older ones." She says and the girl nodded, stepping up and taking Claire's hand before they walked in.

"Can I go with Olive?" Fiona asks and y/n smiled with a nod, eventually ushering all the children in until Horace, Enoch and the headmistress was left.

"Well, looks like you two are stuck together!" Y/n says, smiling at the two and the boys grumbled, begrudgingly walking inside. The younger woman let out a sigh, letting her smile fall for a moment before she sent a soft one to Miss Peregrine.

"You and me, I suppose?" Alma says, holding her arm out and y/n linked hers with hers.

"You and me." She smiles, leading her inside.

They walked down the dark halls, Alma keeping watch of the children up ahead as she walked with y/n, her hand moving down to take hers as they walked.

"You try too hard to make them happy."

"What?" Y/n looked over at the ymbryne, a bit surprised and Alma sent her a small smile.

"You heard me." She says gently, walking alongside her, not even jumping at the fake skeleton that jumped out towards them, y/n only slightly.

"The children enjoy having you at the home, no matter how stubborn they may act sometimes. They love you, just aren't the greatest at showing it." The older woman says, glancing down at her for a moment before suddenly catching a fake spider in her hand that someone had thrown, her gaze still looking at y/n. She glanced over to set it aside, taking her hand once more and pulling her along.

"Well this is no fun if none of you get scared." Y/n complains with a playful glare, Miss Peregrine smirking slightly.

"If you really want to scare me, darling, you need to step up your game." She says simply, y/n not even noticing a person in costume reaching out to grab her, Alma catching them by the wrist before the younger woman noticed.

"Hands off." She says, her voice low and firm and the person looked at her surprised, intimidated by her hard stare and backed over to the wall as they walked by.

"Alma, it's a haunted house. Of course they'll be people in here as well."

"They don't touch you." She says simply, walking alongside her and y/n watched her closely. Maybe she could scare her after all.

"What time did you say we need to be back home?" Y/n asks, watching the headmistress take her pocket watch out.

"At 7:00 exact so I can get the movie figured out and then reset." She says. "That gives us 27 minutes and 14 seconds." The woman looked back up to look at her wife, but her eyes widened slightly when she seen she was gone.

Stopping in her tracks, she tucked her watch away, noticing the children were far ahead of them and decided to catch up with them. She needed to watch them closely, y/n was possibly outside the building.

"Hey Miss P." Emma greets, seeing the headmistress tag along the rear of the group.

"Hello, Miss Bloom."

"Where's y/n?" She asks, noticing the woman wasn't in the group no longer.

"Maybe she got scared and skipped out. This seems the type of corniness she'd scream from." Enoch says with an eye roll and Alma snapped him a glare.

"Could we go home now, Miss Peregrine?" Horace asks and Fiona spoke up.

"No, Horace! We need to get to the end!" She says and the boy groaned, treading ahead.

"Children, y/n has been planning this all week. We hardly celebrate any of the holidays, so please be appreciative." The ymbryne says with a small huff, pinching the bridge of her nose as they walked along.

"But there's nothing interesting!" Hugh grumbles and Fiona smacked him on the arm. "Hey!"

"Children, enough." The ravenette says, already exhausted and a part of her wanted to return to the loop as well.

Soon they got to the back of the building, all of them ready to go home. Alma was about to look for y/n, when her attention was sent to a twig that snapped in the dark woods behind the building.

"Children, hush." She says firmly, the conversations dying down as a silence fell over them.

Another twig was heard in the trees, a ruffle of a bush as well that Alma had picked up on and she backed over to her children, keeping close watch around them.

"What is it?" Millard questions and suddenly a loud growl was heard, the older woman turning around just when a wolf came tumbling towards them.

Some of the children screamed and went to run, some of them frozen in place when the ymbryne got tackled to the ground, thoroughly fearful for a moment until she seen the abnormal size of the wolf, noticing it was bigger than most. And the blue eyes gave it away.

"Y/n y/l/n!" She scolds with a shout, the wolf getting off of her and backing off with a smug look.

The children then realized who it was, a few of them still trying to calm themselves and Miss Peregrine stormed over, pointing a finger at her with a glare.

"What were you thinking?" She snaps and the woman shifted back, Alma's facial features softening when she seen the dried tear tracks on the woman's face, but y/n only grinned.

"I told you it was scary!" She says with a smile, Emma not helping the small laugh that left her mouth that she quickly muffled when the older woman sent her a pointed look.

"Alright, alright. Sorry. I just wanted to make it fun." Y/n says softly, managing a weak smile as she sent them all one last glance and walked ahead of the group, her smile immediately falling when no one could see her face.

I feel like with the peculiars living in the loop for so long, adjusting to some traditions normals do can be difficult and probably "silly" to some of them, especially growing up with Miss P keeping them on the same schedule (no hate on her though, my ocd agrees 😭)
