Y/n woke up with a sneeze, jumping slightly causing the ravenette beside her to stir and roll over in bed to wrap her arm around her waist. The younger woman slowly opened her eyes, tired but unable to stop the round of coughs that took over her. She didn't want to wake the older woman, but assumed it was already too late when she felt the ymbryne pull her closer against her.

The woman finally settled down and thought she was done, shutting her eyes and feeling Alma doze off again when the she felt the tickle in her throat return and got caught in another coughing fit. The older woman felt it this time, her hand gently rubbing against the fabric of the night gown on her hips.

"Do you need a drink?" The headmistress asks, her voice still heavy with sleep and y/n went to answer, but only a round of coughs came out. "I'll go get you water." She says softly, sitting up with a stretch and walking towards the door, leaving.

Y/n soon after heard the sound of her footsteps returning, looking over and thanking her when Alma handed her the glass, noticing how tired the ymbryne looked.

"You can lay back down." The woman says, Alma humming before sitting down in front of her, resting her head down on her inner thigh and leaning into the warmth.

The younger woman sipped at the water, trying to rid the sensation in the back of her throat but only got the opposite when she went into another fit, Alma yawning slightly and looking up at her from in between her legs.

"Is the water helping?" She asks, shutting her eyes again and propping her chin on her lower stomach.

"I think it's just a cold." Y/n says softly, trying her hardest not to let another cough slip.

"Do you need anything?"

"I think you need rest, Bluebird." She says softly, smiling a bit. "My nose is just stuffy, no big deal." She says, leaning her head back on the pillow and staring towards the window. The older woman lifted herself up, moving closer on top of the woman before laying down, her chin resting on her chest and her hands down on her waist.

A small shiver went through the younger woman, sniffling slightly as her nose was incredibly stuffy and the older woman gently got up to pull the covers over her.

"It would be nice if I could breathe." Y/n says with an exasperated laugh, sounding awfully congested as another round of coughs hit her, the ymbryne gently running her thumb over her thigh through the fabric of her nightgown.

She felt the woman's cold hand press against her, a small hum escaping the back of her throat as she leaned into the touch.

"You don't feel warm."

"I think it's just a bad cold." Y/n says softly, bringing her hand up to rest against the top of hers. The older woman leaned over carefully and got her glass of water that was set on the night stand, holding onto it as she went into another coughing fit before the ymbryne handed it over.

"I want plenty of bed rest for you tomorrow." The ravenette says, looking over her intently before the woman set the cup back down on the small table. With a small groan, she leaned forward, resting her head against the older woman's chest, Alma hugging her closer.

"Why don't you get some rest, darling?" The ymbryne says softly, her breath hitting the side of her ear and the woman shook her head.

"I can't." She mumbles, but her eyes shut and a part of her was starting to doze off in Alma's arms.

"You're sure? Because it seems to me you're falling asleep against me." Alma teased with a small smile, her forehead leaning against hers and placed a small kiss in between her eyebrows.

"You're just soothing, shush." She scolds lightly, Alma allowing it and leaning the side of her head against hers, finding comfort in each other.

The woman pulled away for a moment, thinking she was going to sneeze when instead her nose burned, causing her eyes to water.

"Are you okay?" Alma asks softly, looking over her and y/n nods, suddenly feeling something warm drip on to her hand. Squinting her eyes, she glanced over the palm of her hand, her eyes widening just a second when she seen the reddish tint. She glanced back up at Alma who seen the red trailing down her nose and immediately got up, turning the lamp on and going to the bathroom to get paper towels.

The older woman gently pressed one against her nose, y/n holding it there as she looked over her.

"Let's get more water into you and then we can lay back down."

"Would it be okay if we say on the chair? On your office?" The woman asks quietly, muffled by the paper towel. "If I lay back down, I won't be able to breathe." She says with a small weak chuckle. Alma sent her a small sad smile and nodded.

"If that's comfortable for you then sure."

"Are you okay with that? You sound tired."

"Of course I am, come along darling." The ymbryne says, taking her glass of water, her other hand reaching out towards her. The woman gently took her hand, the ravenettes moving from hers to her waist as they quietly walked down the hallway, y/n holding the small candle she had lit.

"If we sit in the parlor, I could get a small fire going if you'd like." Alma offers, having her sit down on the comfy chair and she nods.

She watched the ymbryne as she started the fire, the flames slowly growing and she carefully put the gate in front of the chimney entrance before walking over to the woman.

"Here, sit still." She smiles, placing her hands on both arms of the chair and suddenly pushing it forward against her. Y/n blushed at the sudden movement but when Alma turned away she seen she was a bit closer to the warmth of the fire.

"Up, darling." Alma says and she obeyed, the older woman sitting down and patting her lap.

"Are you sure you'll be comfortable?" Y/n says, looking at her unsure and Alma sighed.

"You're only getting me to do this one time, understood?" She says and the woman raised an eyebrow, nodding.

The ymbryne stood up from the chair, motioning for y/n to sit and right when she did, Alma shifted into her falcon form and perched on the arm of the chair while she got comfortable. With a small smile, y/n gently took the bird, holding her gently in her arms against her chest and stroke her feathers, Alma allowing her despite not liking being in her falcon form often.

"Such a beautiful bird." Y/n says softly with a content smile, leaning her head against the back of the chair, her legs dangling off the arm of the furniture.

She carefully held the bird in her arms, running her fingers through her feathers, the falcon being mindful of her talons as she moved further up y/n to rest her beak on her collarbone.

"Only this one time?" Y/n says sadly, the bird chirping out a small complaint and she smiled slightly. "Such a shame. I can easily hold you like this." She chuckles, placing her lips gently on the birds beak. The falcon chirped but pushed her beak into her lips again, the woman chuckling before scratching her wing feathers.

"What a beautiful bird." She smiles, leaning her head against the back of the chair, a few coughs leaving the woman when she did and the falcon moved closer to her. "I'm alright, birdie. You can go back to sleep if you're tired." Y/n says softly, sensing the concern coming off the bird who pushed her beak against her cheek. Alma relaxed on top of her chest, keeping herself near just in case and y/n sighed, content as she held her close.

A few times she let out a few coughs or a sniffle, Alma stirring at any noise and moving closer to her, sometimes pressing her beak against her skin to comfort her to the best of her ability. Y/n leaned down and place a gently kiss on the tip of her beak, Alma cooing softly when she did and rested her beak on the woman's chest as y/n shut her eyes, her hand resting on her wings to keep her close.
