~~~~Y/n lived in the loop for about a month. Alma had found her during the hardest point of her life and -as y/n seen it- she saved her. She never had feelings for anyone before she met the headmistress, her husband merely just an arranged marriage her parents had forced her into. Unable to have children, they both adopted a little girl who went by Ophelia shortly before y/n found out about the loop in Cairnholm.
It was such a small little town, she hadn't really expected there to be such a thing to exist. Merely just a myth.
Her husband had filed a divorce and was taking her daughter with him despite y/ns plea's to be able to see her but gave up when the court had had it finalized. the one night she had gone to the local pub, tired of her husbands yelling as they were moving his things out and needed a drink or two. The woman left around midnight and walked down the street, stumbling for just a moment when she felt someone catch her under her arms.
Y/n glanced up, disoriented but slightly panicked but it immediately left when she seen the gentle look on the woman's face, her blue eyes looking carefully over her.
She couldn't quite remember what all they had said, too drunk to remember, but she woke up the next day in the home of peculiars. It was odd at first, waking up in a room having no idea where you were or who everyone was and there was so much to take in, but eventually she settled. The older woman she soon found out was Alma LeFay Peregrine, the headmistress and ymbryne of the home.
Throughout the month she had spent there, she's gotten to know the peculiars very well, even taking a special liking to their ymbryne but didn't think much of it. She hadn't loved anyone before, she didn't know what it felt like. Or maybe she was just in denial.
Everything was going smoothly, until she had to break the news that she had to part with them.
"Alma?"
The older woman looked over from the kitchen window and her blue eyes met hers, that usual fond and adoring look falling over her features.
"Yes?"
"There's something I need to talk to you about." Y/n says softly, nervously messing with her fingers as she watched the ravenette closely, Alma raising an eyebrow and growing slightly nervous herself.
"What is it?"
A silence fell as y/n figured out how to say it, bracing herself for any words that would be thrown if she upset the woman. The silence went on too long though and she mentally scolded herself when Miss Peregrine had walked over, a curious but concerned look lingering on her face.
"I have to go." Y/n settles on, her voice quiet and feeling the tears that built in her eyes. Alma's expression was unreadable.
"I've truly enjoyed staying here, I have." She assures, taking the ymbrynes hands in her, earning her gaze back. "But I don't think I'm ready to stay." She says, her voice growing quiet as she watched the womans features change. Her eyes drifted from worry to hurt to anger and back to hurt as she looked over the younger woman, unsure what to say at first which was unlike her.
"Alright." Alma says, her tone suddenly stoic and the headmistress demeanor fell over her as she glanced back at her. "If that is what you want, then I won't stop you."
Y/n could hear the pain in her voice and hesitated a moment before bringing her into a close hug, Alma returning it even tighter than she had.
"I'm sorry." Y/n says, her voice shaking as tears threatened to spill and went to let go, Alma holding on for just a second longer but they both had noticed it.
