Y/n was so terribly lost. She hadn't a clue where she was, but could hear the echo of her voice. Ever since the incident at her old home, she grew used to not having her sight, knowing her way around her home and then eventually in the town of Cairnholm. But she bumped into a stranger, the person suddenly taking her cane and y/n thought for sure she would be killed, realizing it was a man from the tight grip the rough hands had on her. He threatened her, pulled her back somewhere when he found out she couldn't see, but y/n fought back and ran. She didn't know where she was running, disoriented and not knowing the pathway she was on. It wasn't until she heard the sand crunch under her shoes that she realized she was on the shore of the beach. The woman didn't know if she was being followed still and ran, trying her best not to trip or get hurt, managing to only get a few scratches from a tree branch when she was running.
Now she was lost. The ground felt hard, no longer the sand she was just on and her nerves grew when she heard her shoes echo with each step. Y/n felt her ears pop, stumbling and tripped. Reaching out blindly, she felt the wall of what felt like rocks off to her side, jumping when she heard another pair of footsteps towards the entryway.
"Who's there?" She says quietly, fearful for who was waiting by the cave. Y/n didn't know how to defend herself since her cane was gone and didn't recognize the area around her. The ground felt cold, but she didn't feel the breeze anymore that came through the cave and it frightened her even more. She backed up when she heard the footsteps grow closer, y/n's back eventually hitting the hard surface behind her.
"Who is there?" She repeats, her tone a bit louder but it didn't cover her fear. Immediately she flinched when she felt a hand against her shoulder, squinting her eyes shut from reflex.
"I won't hurt you."
She heard a feminine voice, signaling it wasn't the man that had grabbed her moments before. She opened her eyes despite it still being dark and looked around, unsure where the voice was coming from.
"Are you alright?"
She felt a taloned hand rest against her cheek, her breathing growing shallow at the unexpected touch. It was so gentle, the warmth radiating off her palm that y/n leaned into it slightly, the tension in her shoulders easing.
"Who are you?" Y/n whispers, feeling the woman lift her chin up, one of her talons brushing against her neck when she did, looking over her eyes to be sure she wasn't a wight. She seen the milky white of her eyes, but not like a wight. Her pupils were still visible, the color faded extremely as scars lined alongside her eyes. Satisfied to see she wasn't, y/n felt her pull her hand away.
"I'm Miss Alma LeFay Peregrine." She says quietly, a slight echo heard in the cave. The older woman seen how the woman's gaze didn't quite meet hers, realizing that she must be blind. "Do you mind telling me your name?" Her voice was so caring, almost motherly, y/n thought to herself, her heart not racing nearly as much as before.
"Y/n y/l/n." She says in a hush tone. "Where am I? Is this a cave? I just remember crossing the beach and I fell." The woman rambles, Alma sensing her panic and gently placed her hand on her knee.
"Its alright, you're safe now." She says softly, moving her hand down to take hers. Y/n felt her stand, carefully helping her up to her feet, a steady hand on her waist as well.
"He took my cane." Y/n whispers, holding on to the woman's hand as it was the only guidance she had. "I don't know where to go, I don't have this route memorized."
"It's okay." She says softly, tucking the woman's hair back when she seen the scratches scattered along her face. She took out a handkerchief she had in her jacket, y/n flinching for a second when she felt the cloth.
