Alina Romano
Numb. That's what this felt like. It was a numbness after five days. The anger lingered and the sadness was woven in between. He texted me yesterday and yet it was still cold.
He texted:
"Business in Vienna."
That's all he said.
So simple as if he didn't leave me here to just divulge in this. Townes wanted to find him, and strangle him as she said. She wanted answers as well, she wanted a damn good one. That text made me more upset. Because he texted me as if I wasn't dying on the inside.
Being spoiled by love and allowing myself to love him. Now being treated with this cold greeting from my own damn husband. The one who promised to never hurt me. To love me always and to keep me safe. To have and to hold.
Townes didn't believe me when I told her I was shot twice. In fact she almost laughed until I showed her my scars. She recommended therapy but I claimed no therapist should have to dwell through this. I didn't trust them, I didn't know who to trust.
Finn and Antony were up my ass on business as usual. Waking me up in the morning, forcing me out of bed. Getting me to shower, eat and keeping me from oversleeping.
Today was my first day back at work. Bridget had already threatened to replace me twice. However she has yet to do it which tells me she can't. It intrigues me, I would've fired me also with my time off. However I informed Colleen of my troubles. Horrified is to say the least of how she reacted.
I claimed I was involved in a shooting incident and had been attacked. It wasn't the easiest of conversation's, nothing had been. I didn't tell Bridget because god knows what's she'd believe or say. Instead she just brooded around me and I swear she could fly away on her broom stick.
These plans in front of me felt so dull. It was Bridget's draft that I was reviewing however they were half assed and lacked any real depth. I don't understand how she got Garry's job. She was shit compared to him and I couldn't have been the only one to notice it.
My other coworkers were fearful of her. But she was the most brutal to me. I know it was because I was Garry's favorite and she hates favoritism. But that was because he saw what I offered and here Bridget diminishes it.
The break room was empty and as I filled up my water bottle the door opened. Jeremiah, one of my coworkers stood surprised to see me.
"Welcome back Alina, great to see you again. How bad has it been today?" He cuts straight to the point but I can't help but laugh.
"Hoping she doesn't catch me trying to fill up my water," I say. I hear a chuckle in the corner and there sat Antony reading some news paper. Unfortunately Finn was stationed in my office in general as my security. Bridget had yet to meet him and I wondered if she was suspicious about Anthony's same day return.
I'm sure the second she spotted him. He would be let go, taking a vacation with no notice or explanation. Well that sure does cause for ground of termination. Good thing Antony actually, hates, his job here.
"Who's the hot guy in a suit lurking in your office? Couple of us saw him and were curious," He asks. That's another thing about Jeremiah, he was a terrible gossip. He wanted to know all and he'd spread it like wildfire.
