Finally Home

It's been a couple of days and dad was slowly remembering things. He kinda remembers me but doesn't know what I am to him
Kaylee: come we gotta get going. You're gonna be late for school
Kaylee: I'm not going to school
Hailey: Kaylee
Kaylee: im not fucking going so get off my case
Hailey: watch your mouth young lady. You're going to school whether I have to drag you there myself no
Kaylee: urgh. Can you get out so I can get ready then?
She left and I put a tracksuit on with a pair of crocs. I went downstairs and walked out the house. I took the long way to school and was an hour late so I walked to science
Mr Mead: you're late Kaylee
Kaylee: no shit Sherlock
Mr mead: put your report on my desk and sit down
I sat down next to Zach and Tessa.
Zach: you okay?
Kaylee: mhm fine
I was just sat zoned out. I got up and walked out. I went to Miss Jackson's office.
Miss Jackson: hey what's up?
Kaylee: nothing
Miss Jackson: it's not nothing. You never come to see me. What's going on?
Kaylee: I'm missing dad I guess. I can't concentrate. My brains just going like 100mph. I can't think straight
Miss Jackson: you not in the right frame of mind for lessons?
I just shook my head
Miss Jackson: you want me to call Hailey to pick you up?
Kaylee: no she's got enough to deal with. I don't wanna stress her out
Miss Jackson: then what do you wanna do Kaylee?
Kaylee: I erm I don't know
Miss Jackson: how about I introduce you to Archie?
Kaylee: who's that?
Miss Jackson: he's a support teacher. He's gonna be working with you next semester
Kaylee: i thought Thomas was?
Miss Jackson: He is but next semester he's gonna be working with another student. With Archie it's gonna be a bit different
Kaylee: how?
Miss Jackson: he's gonna be working with you more often. He'll be in all your lessons and he'll work with with you with your reading and stuff. He'll also keep you out of trouble and on track. He's also seizure first aid trained. For obvious reasons
Kaylee: is he cool? He best not be some lame old guy
Miss Jackson: he's quite young and you have quite a lot in common
Kaylee: like?
Miss Jackson: sports, dyslexia and family issues
Kaylee: that's weird things to have in common. You expect us to bond over deadbeat parents?
Miss Jackson: just give it some time okay. It will make next semester so much easier
Kaylee: okay
We walked to Archie's office. Miss Jackson knocked on the door and walked in
Archie: hi what can I do for you guys?
Miss Jackson: this is Kaylee and I thought that maybe it was a good idea for you both to get to know each other.

Archie pov
Archie: sure that would be great
Jo: can I have a word outside?
Archie: sure. Kaylee you like Lego?
Kaylee: yeah
Archie: i bought a brand new set it's under the desk
Me and Jo went outside
Archie: what's up?
Jo: I know you're not working with her until next semester but she needs this. She's not in the right frame of mind to be in lessons but she doesn't want to go home.
Archie: You want me to talk about anything specific?
Jo: not really just keep her occupied until lunch. She is really easily distracted so it's difficult to keep her entertained. She likes soccer and basketball so maybe you can use that to keep her entertained.
Archie: okay
Jo left and I went back into the office. We just sat in an uncomfortable silence
Kaylee: well this ain't awkward
Archie: so what happened? Why you not in lesson?
Kaylee: I just can't concentrate. I'm not in the right space for lessons. I just don't want to get in trouble
Archie: that's a really smart decision you made. I know you've been trying your best to get off report. Maybe I can have a word with Miss Walker and Principal Monroe?
Kaylee: about?
Archie: giving you a trial off report
Kaylee: really?
Archie: yeah.
Kaylee: cool
She got up and started moving around the room
Archie: you done with the Lego set?
Kaylee: yeah im bored
Archie: you wanna go play soccer? Basketball?
Kaylee: Basketball.

We went to the sports hall. We were playing a 3 point challenge.
Kaylee: I can talk to you right?
Archie: of course you can. About anything you want. Is there something you want to talk about?
Kaylee: I miss my dad
Archie: where is he?
Kaylee: he's in the hospital. He was undercover and it went wrong. He ended up in an induced coma and when he woke up he couldn't remember me.
Archie: have you been back since?
Kaylee: yeah he knows my name but didn't know what I am to him. He doesn't know that he's my dad and it hurts me. It makes me so angry
Archie: okay and how do you handle this anger?
Kaylee: I hurt everyone around me. I push them away and I say horrible things that I regret after.
Archie: what should we be doing to handle these negative emotions?
Kaylee: talk to someone
Archie: I understand you used speak to Sam
Kaylee: you know Sam?
Archie: he's my older brother
Kaylee: no way. Samuel?
Archie: you call him Samuel too?
Kaylee: yep and he hates it.
We carried on playing for just over an hour. Ryan Evans walked in
Ryan: hey kiddo
Kaylee: hi coach
Ryan: you're doing good
Archie: she's doing great. 25 straight free throws
Ryan: damn kid
Kaylee: did you want something?
Ryan: someone's here to see you
Kaylee: who?
A guy walked in. His arm was in a cast and he was limping. His leg was in a boot
Kaylee: Dad!
She ran over and gave him a hug
Archie: so this is the infamous Jay
Kaylee: dad this is Archie he's a teacher who's helping me in lessons. Dad you're home
Jay: yep I got Justin to break me out. Kaylee not too tight
She stepped back
Kaylee: sorry
Kaylee turned to me
Kaylee: can I go home?
Ryan: if you sign yourself out
Kaylee: thank you
Ryan, Jay and Kaylee left

Kaylee pov
We went out to the car and hailey and Hank were waiting
Hank: how you doing kiddo?
Kaylee: good now dads home
We went home and we I just stayed with dad for the rest of the day
