A few weeks later I was still sat on the chair beside her bed. I was holding her hand and laid my head on her bed.
Will: Go home Jay
Jay: no I have to stay here. I have to stay with my little girl.
Will: you haven't slept properly since she was here. Have you even showered?
Jay: that doesn't matter
Will: you have to look after yourself. You're no use to Kaylee in this state.
Jay: I'm not leaving so I suggest you do one
Will: I'm gonna call dad to come and get you
Jay: go fuck yourself
Will walked away with a sigh. I drifted off until I was woken by someone shaking me.
Jay: Will go away
I sat up and Hank and Hailey were just looking
Hank: Jay?
Jay: I know Will called you but I'm not leaving here
Hailey: Jay look at me
She knelt down
Hailey: honey come home with me, freshen up get some sleep and we'll come back.
Jay: no I need to be here for her. She hates being in the hospital alone.
Hailey: Jay she won't notice if you're gone for a few hours
Hank: I'll stay here with her and I'll ring you if anything changes. Kiddo go home and get some rest.
Jay: fine
I stood up and the whole room began spinning. I stumbled into Hank who held me upright
Hank: kiddo?
Jay: f-fine haven't eaten
Hailey: I'll get you something to eat once we're home
We walked to hailey's car and she started driving home. We arrived home and I went straight up to bed and hailey followed.
Jay: can you lay with me?
I laid with my head on her chest and she was running her fingers through my hair.
Jay: I want them to face charges for what they've done
Hailey: let's talk about it once you've had a rest okay
Eventually I had fallen asleep.

Hank pov
I was sat in Kaylees room when Connor walked in.
Connor: Jays finally gone home?
Hank: yep. He was gonna make himself ill.
Connor: Kaylee is showing signs of improvement but not enough for us to reduce her sedation
Hank: when do you think?
Connor: possibly in a couple of weeks. It could be sooner, it could be longer. Brain injuries are unpredictable but I am happy with the progress she's making. Hank the girls who did this what's gonna happen?
Hank: we'll arrest them and the outcome depends on whether Jay wants to press charges.
Connor: Freddie showed me the video and what them girls did were disgusting.
Connor's page started going off
Connor: I need to go back to the ED. I'll be back to check on her later
Hank: thanks Connor
Connor left and Will came in with a coffee
Will: finally got Jay to go home?
Hank: yeah it took a bit of persuading but we did it
Will: he's not doing good dad. I'm worried about him.
Hank: he's got us. Connor says she's doing good but not good enough to be woken up yet
Will: yep she's been through so much she'll get through this too. Listen I finish in like 2 hours. I'll bring you some food

Justin pov
I was looking for kaylees room when I could hear my dad's familiar voice. I followed his voice and he was talking to Will. I walked in the room
Dad: what the hell are you doing here?
Justin: Kaylees my niece okay. Dad please
Dad: get out Justin
Justin: dad
Dad: why are you even here?
Justin: dad I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything. I'm trying to change. I want to change. I want to be better. Just give me a chance dad please
Dad: go home Justin
Justin: Dad
Dad: This is not the time or the place for your bullshit
Justin: go fuck yourself
I walked out and started punching the wall. I felt arms around me
Justin: get the fuck off me. Let me go
Jay: Justin calm down
Jay let go and i just looked at him
Justin: look Jay I should go
Jay: don't. Kaylee would want you here.
Justin: I'm not welcome here Jay
Jay: it'll be fine
We walked in
Jay: pops don't start let him stay
Hank: shouldn't you be at home?
Jay: I couldn't sleep properly but I showered
Hank: have something to eat?
Jay: not yet
Hank: Jay
Justin: so what happened?
Jay: the girls at school started a fight ended up with Kaylee smashing her head off a table. The first time we were here they missed the bleed on the scan cause it was small. It obviously got worse which is why we're here
Justin: shit. What about the girls?
Jay: I'm gonna be pressing charges so pops get Adam or someone at the district to arrest them
Hank: Jay are you sure?
Justin: least that them bitches deserve
Hank: Justin

Adam pov
Adam: anyone got an update on Kaylee?
Hailey: She's still in the coma
Adam: shit
Hailey: Jay wants to press charges so Hank wants us to arrest the girls involved and bring in Zach and Tessa for another statement. Recorded this time.
Adam: we can do that.
Kev: we arresting them for assault and battery?
Adam: yep and taking them to juvie
Kev: what about Tessa?
Adam: nah it was self defence. Only bring her in for a statement.

We had all gone out and arrested the girls involved and brought in Tessa and Zach who were with their parents
Adam: Tessa just wait here and I'll be with you in a minute okay. Zach do you want to follow me?
We walked into the breakroom and I set down the voice recorder. Zach sat down opposite me with his parents.
Zach: is she okay?
Adam: her brain is really hurt at the moment so the doctors have given her something to stay asleep until it begins to heal.
Zach: I should have done more to protect her. This is all my fault
Adam: Zach the only thing you could've done is been there for her and you was.
Mrs Doherty: why are we here?
Adam: well Mrs Doherty, Kaylees dad wants to press charges against the girls involved and because Zach was involved and had witnessed the ongoing bullying and the incident a statement is needed to support the case.
Mrs Doherty: but he already did one
Adam: I understand but this time because it's going further we need a formal statement. I'm just gonna ask a few questions and then we're done. Does that sound okay Zach?
Mrs Doherty: with the questions can you make it as simple as possible because he has ADHD so if you just bombard him with questions and advanced language he'll get overwhelmed?
Adam: sure that's no problem. Okay Zach so how do you want to do this? Either you can just write everything down or I can ask you questions and ill write what you tell me
Zach: the second one
Adam: okay so are Kaylee and Meghan friends?
Zach: No Meghan has been bullying her for a while. I'd say about a month
Adam: what would she do?
Zach: they would call her names and try and make her look stupid. They make fun of her dyslexia and epilepsy. Saying she was faking for attention.
Adam: was it just her?
Zach: no it was Taylor, Lillie and Daisy as well but Meghan is like the leader. Everyone just follows what she's doing
Adam: the day of the fight what happened?
Zach: in class it was the normal passing notes around the class about Kaylee and making little comments then at lunch me, Kaylee and Tessa were gonna join the rest of our friendship group. Meghan went up to Kaylee and smacked her lunch out of her hands. Tessa was like 'what you do that for' and Meghan said something about Kaylee faking. Can I walk around whilst I talk cause my meds are wearing off?
He was getting a lot more fidgety and squirming in the seat.
Adam: sure what ever would make you comfortable
He stood up and started pacing up and down while fiddling with his fingers
Zach: oh and erm what was I saying?
Adam: Meghan said Kaylee was faking
Zach: oh and she pushed Tessa and Tessa pushed back and they started fighting so I pulled Tessa away. Meghan started pushing Kaylee but Kaylee didn't react so Meghan started punching her so Kaylee did the same. It reminded of the movie fist fight with ice cube. Oh yeah and he was in 21 jump street.
Zachs mom: Zach focus okay you're nearly finished
Zach: sorry
Adam: it's okay. You okay to carry on? We can stop wherever you want okay. So what happened after they started fighting?
Zach: Daisy, Lillie and Taylor were getting involved so I pulled Kaylee away
Adam: why didn't you pull her away sooner?
Zach: cause she can handle herself not like Tessa. But I know I should have and I'm sorry. After I pulled her away it died down and the bell went for lesson so we were collecting our things and
Meghan pushed Kaylee and Taylor stuck her foot out and Kaylee hit her head off the table then started seizing. I started shouting at them and people started crowding around asking why she was shaking. I tried to get everyone to stay away. I told them that she wasn't faking and Meghan called her a retard. That really pissed me off but Tessa told me to leave it and not argue. Is there anything else you need?
Adam: okay I just need you to read it, then you and mom sign before I sign okay?
Zach: can my mom read it for me?
Adam: sure
They read it and we all signed it.
Adam: that's all done. You're free to leave
Zach: so what now?
Adam: if it goes to court you may have to testify
Zach: can I go now?
Adam: yeah can you send Tessa in for me?
Zach left and Tessa came in
