Going back home

It's been a couple of days since I was staying with Justin and Connor and I couldn't wait to go home. I went downstairs and Freddie was making eggs.
Freddie: you want some?
Kaylee: sure
Freddie: I'm doing egg, bacon, sausage and toast
Kaylee: thanks
He made it and we sat down and ate. Freddie zoned out
Kaylee: hey you okay?
Freddie: yeah
Kaylee: what's up?
Freddie: you know me and Connor don't have the same dad?
Kaylee: yeah
Freddie: well my dad he's out of prison and wants to see me
Kaylee: what was he in prison for?
Freddie: murder but it wasn't his fault. He was protecting me.
Kaylee: from what?
Freddie: When I was like 4 I was taken. I was missing for nearly a year and I was in hospital for months. When they found out who it was he was given a really short sentence. Dad took matters into his own hands and killed him.
Kaylee: I'm sorry
Freddie: there's nothing to be sorry for. It was like 10 years ago.
Kaylee: does anyone know?
Freddie: nope and I want it to stay that way
Kaylee: you know you can talk to me about anything
Freddie: mhm same for you
Kaylee: I know. So what you gonna do you gonna see him?
Freddie: I think so yeah
Kaylee: that's good
Freddie: hopefully
Justin walked in
Justin: you ready to go home?
Kaylee: I think so
Justin: what you both talking about?
Kaylee: life
Justin: fair enough
Kaylee: where's Daisy?
Justin: play date
Freddie: Justin can I go the cages with Harry?
Justin: sure make sure you're home by 6
Freddie: thank you
Freddie went upstairs
Kaylee: Justin can you drop me home?
Justin: yeah sure
Kaylee: thanks
I put our dishes in the dishwasher and got in the car. Justin drove me home.

I walked in and hugged dad and Hailey
Dad: hey kiddo
Kaylee: I missed you
Dad: we missed you too
Kaylee: I'm sorry for being horrible
Hailey: it's understandable. You been sleeping okay?
Kaylee: yeah the pills knock me out straight away
Dad: you eaten?
Kaylee: yeah Freddie cooked me breakfast which was actually nice
Dad: how about for dinner we get takeout and watch a movie?
Kaylee: yessss. Can I go to Zach's?
Dad: okay be back for 6
Kaylee: thank you
I walked to Zachs. He hasn't been answering me these last couple of days so I just wanna make sure everything is okay.
I arrived and knocked on the door. His sister opened it
Izzy: hi Kaylee
Kaylee: hey is Zach okay?
Izzy: he's had some tough news. I guess he's been blanking you?
Kaylee: yep
Izzy: go up to his room. He'll be glad to see you
Kaylee: thank you
I said hello to his mom and sent upstairs. I knocked on his door before walking in
Kaylee: Izzy let me up
Zach: okay
He looked like he had been crying. I sat beside him and just held him
Kaylee: what's going on?
Zach: they found dad but they don't think he's gonna make it
Kaylee: have they said what his injuries are?
Zach: erm loads of broken bones, something with his lungs, he has a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. He's in a coma
Kaylee: I'm so sorry to hear that
Zach: I didn't mean to shut you out
Kaylee: I know
Zach: mom wants us to go and see him but I can't do it.
Kaylee: I know it's not the same but if you don't you might regret it. I'm glad I saw my dad when I did. If he died and I didn't see him then I probably would've hated myself
Zach: I guess
Kaylee: have you been eating?
Zach: yeah?
Kaylee: Zach
Zach: fine not really but im just not hungry
Kaylee: promise me you'll eat something later
Zach: I promise
I gave him a kiss and we just cuddled up together and watched a movie

Zach pov
Kaylee fell asleep on me and Zach FaceTimed me so I answered
Josh: yo you been ghosting me bro
Zach: my bad i got some news about my dad and I just cut myself off from everyone
Josh: they find him?
Zach: yeah but they don't think he'll make it
We were talking and Kaylee was mumbling in her sleep and her breathing was picking up. I put my phone down on the bed and woke her up
Zach: you're okay. You wanna talk about it?
Kaylee: it was about dad
She just started crying
Zach: you're okay. Let's slow down your breathing okay
She was still breathing quickly. If I didn't slow her down she would probably start seizing. I kissed her and her breathing slowed.
Zach: what time do you have to be home?
Kaylee: 6
Zach: we have ages.
Kaylee: can we watch a movie?
Zach: fast and furious?
Kaylee: yep 7
Zach: do you mind if we just talk for a little bit?
Kaylee: sure what do you wanna talk about?
Zach: I don't know my brain is just a whirlwind
Kaylee: we can talk about whatever you want to.
Zach: I miss him. I guess when I was told that he was missing after a while I just accepted he wasn't coming back. In my mind he was dead. In my mind I had partially grieved my father. When they told me they had found him everything came back. My brain hasn't been quiet since.

Kaylee pov
Zach was getting a bit restless. He struggles to stay still
Kaylee: you wanna go for a walk?
Zach: no
Kaylee: come on
Zach: no
Kaylee: let's get some fresh air
Zach: im fine
Kaylee: come on please
Zach: fine
We put our trainers on and we went out. Zach was running around like a little kid and I was laughing
Zach: what's so funny?
Kaylee: you got so much energy
Zach: yep. Come on
He grabbed my hand and we ran to a park with a big hill.
Kaylee: im not rolling down that
Zach: come on it will be fun
He started rolling and when he got up from the bottom he was just laughing his head off.
Zach: come on don't be a wuss
He came back up and hugged me and we fell down the hill. We were both just laughing when we reached the bottom. We just laid on the grass looking up at the sky
Zach: you know I love you?
Kaylee: I love you too
He kisses me
Kaylee: what's the time?
Zach: 6:15
Kaylee: shit I'm supposed to be at home

Zach: I'll walk you home
Kaylee: you don't have to
Zach: I want to
We started walking
Kaylee: you know if it makes it easier for you I'll come with you to see your dad. But that's only if you want me to
Zach: can I think about it?
Kaylee: of course just let me know
We got to the front door and Me and Zach were kissing. We heard the door open but ignored it. Dad cleared his throat so we knew he was there. We were still kissing
Dad: I think that's enough. Zach stop eating my daughters face off
Me and Zach looked at each other and started laughing.
Zach: I'll FaceTime you later okay
He kissed me again. He left and I walked in.
Kaylee: im sorry im back late. We didn't realise the time.
I went into the kitchen and dinner was already on the table. I washed my hands and we all sat down.
Kaylee: im sorry for causing so much trouble. Everything was just so overwhelming I guess and I didn't know how to handle it
Hailey: next time speak to us. Tell us how you're feeling
Kaylee: I didn't wanna be a burden. You both have enough going on and I didn't want you to add to it
Dad: p-peach you can always come to us no matter what. You will never be a burden. Not to us. Not to anyone
Hailey: you keep what you're feeling to yourself over time it will get too much and you'll explode.
Kaylee: I know it's just I don't know how to. I don't even know how im feeling most of the time
Dad: and that's okay but I want you to open up to us and let us in.
Kaylee: I will. I promise
We sat and ate in a comfortable silence. We finished and I put the dishes in the dishwasher and then put on a film. We sat on the couch and I fell asleep
