Celeste magically happened to wake up on the wrong side of the bed last night. She was both tired and extremely irritable and she didn't have the patience for any shenanigans. She wanted the day to end just as quickly as it started. Being at home in the comfort of her privacy was sounding all too good.
She currently sat in the passenger seat of Kennedy's car as they drove to Onyx. The girls received a message in the group chat announcing a mandatory meeting today.
These "meetings" were supposed to happen every month, but Benji liked to have them when he felt necessary. Celeste wasn't the biggest fan of these meetings. Typically there wasn't anything important or valuable said.
Benji just used this time to reinforce the few rules of his establishment. However, if you didn't attend the meetings you weren't allowed to dance. Celeste always sat in the far back and zoned out.
This was also when the dancers paid their "house fees." See, most people don't know, but strippers don't get a paycheck. The owner might throw them a few extra dollars for special events, but overall strippers had to pay the club owner.
Dancers, like Celeste, had to pay for stage time. She kept all the profit she made throughout the night and paid Benji every month for using his facility. You could say erotic dancers were private contractors.
The music was suddenly turned down and Ken spoke, "Did you see that shit Raya pulled?" Celeste knew immediately what she was referring to.
At that moment Celeste wasn't as upset, but then she thought about it. She felt disrespected by Raya. Although Cel wouldn't consider her a friend, it was still a snake move.
Celeste assumed girl code just didn't exist anymore and that was the downfall of sisterhood. Granted Raya didn't owe her any loyalty, but it was still weird of her.
"I left the stage confused as fuck, literally. I knew the lap dance portion was gonna be some bullshit when we choreographed it." Celeste replied with a slight attitude.
Kennedy didn't play when it came to her best friend. She was going to step behind Celeste with no problem. Kennedy knew Cel was outspoken, but it took a lot for her to get there. On the other hand, Kennedy was on go 24/7.
Kennedy replied back, "Oh don't worry, Imma ask that hoe about it. One thing we don't do is weird."
"I'm not even mad that she did it, but it's the principle of the situation. Do you see me out here dancing on her no good ass baby daddy?" Celeste asked with all seriousness.
Ken responded with a straightface, "Don't nobody want that man but her."
The drive to Onyx wasn't long, as they were already pulling into the parking lot. Seeing the building during daylight was completely different. You could spot all the imperfections and concerns.
She spotted the paint chipping from the building to the large pot holes in the lot. The place could use some of the profit to renovate, but that was too noble. Benji would probably say it would ruin the strip club aesthetic.
