"Alright, that's all the information I have for today. Please be sure to sign the attendance sheet, so I have active proof of you attending class today. I truly look forward to teaching you all."

The sound of chairs moving across the floor replaced the instructors voice. Laptops slammed shut and book bags were unzipped.

Celeste gathered the stack of freshly printed paperwork from the table and pushed her chair in. She had already signed the attendance sheet prior to the final announcement.

Today was her first day of cosmetology school. As expected, they didn't do anything hands-on. Celeste spent six hours listening to her instructors provide details about the next nine months. She was given a list of supplies she needed within the next week, course syllabus, and a schedule.

As she left the building, she was reminded of the general student population in her cohort. Celeste felt out of place the entire time. Most of the students were younger and fresh from high school. She was one of the oldest students and it was discouraging. Representation and inclusivity was everything, and she lacked a diverse cohort.

The younger students weren't rude or reserved, but it would be hard working with young adults as a thirty year old woman. Celeste wasn't going to let this interrupt the goal at hand, but it was going to take some getting use to.

Currently, Celeste sat in her car skimming over the papers again. She couldn't believe how close she was to obtaining her license then opening up her own salon.

Her days of working at Onyx were almost to an end. She would never speak down on the club that provided her lifestyle now, but she craved a change of pace. Celeste hadn't always been serious about her hair talent, but she was elevating. She created social media platforms specifically to display her work.

Celeste reviewed the provided supply list. There were only five items with one being optional. She needed pens, highlighters, a binder, and the required school textbook.

The final option was an electronic device which wasn't necessary, but Celeste was going to purchase a macbook. She needed to invest in one anyway.

Once she read through the remainder of the papers, she looked to the radio for the time. Sanai didn't attend school today due to her feeling ill, so she was currently with her grandfather. At first Celeste thought she was pretending to be sick, but her cough said otherwise.

Celeste used this drive as a singing session. Her shuffled playlist blasted through the car speakers. Most of her queue was slow music, because she heard so much loud rap during work. After the drive, she stood on the porch as she rang the doorbell.

"I wasn't expecting you so early." Her father said as he hugged her. Celeste replied, "Yeah, it ended earlier than they expected."

She was welcomed into her childhood home. Celeste didn't spot Sanai anywhere, "Where's Nai?"
