"Happy birthday!" Celeste screamed into the phone as she spoke to Kennedy. When Sanai heard her mother speak she repeated it, "Happy, happy birthday!"
Kennedy heard her God-daughter and replied, "Thank you so much, Nai." Her voice still held a morning time rasp.
Celeste removed the phone from being on speaker and continued her conversation, "What ya doing today?" Celeste asked in a funny tone.
Kennedy laughed, "Nothing? I didn't plan anything special. I don't wanna be old, I wanna be twenty again." Today Kennedy was turning a very special thirty.
Celeste tried to improve her birthday mood, "Girl, thirty isn't old. You still fine as fuck, kidless, and turnt. I see no problems with anything."
"Oh, you right. Why do you always call me at seven in the morning though? Is this the only time your phone works?"
Celeste replied as she turned the car into the parking lot, "Cause I'm taking your niece to school. It's only been like four months and I'm sick of doing this. Leaving the club in the morning isn't helping either."
"Ask your man to take her to school." Kennedy offered. Celeste said, "Nah, he already picks her up nearly everyday. He'd probably pass out doing both, he's always complaining about the traffic."
"Yeah, I remembered that one day I picked her up and almost fought every soccer mom in the parking lot with them ugly, boxy ass vans they be driving."
Celeste laughed, "You need to find a man and have a baby. Sanai needs someone to play with after school, and that'll get Saint off me."
"Girl bye! First of all it would take nine months for the baby to even get here, and once it does get here it's living with Saint only."
Celeste opened Sanai's car door and grabbed her backpack. Sanai held her hand as they walked through the parking lot, "That's true, but I still think it would help."
"It literally wouldn't. By the time I give birth, you'll probably be pregnant yourself by then."
Celeste thought about that, "That's not happening, I got too much going on. You remember how I was when I was pregnant."
"Yeah girl I do. You was crying every second for no reason and you only wanted to eat nasty ass Mcdonalds nuggets."
Celeste kissed Sanai's forehead, "Bye baby, have a good day at school."
Once Sanai was secured in the classroom and starting her morning assignment, Celeste slipped back out of the school. She continued speaking, "Yeah, I can't even look at their nuggets the same. They're literally terrible and taste fake."
Celeste heard Kennedy yawn, "You sound sleepy, imma let you go. Oh, and before I hang up, be ready by five. We have plans tonight."
As Kennedy went to ask questions, Celeste ended the call. Kennedy was the type of person that hated plans during their birthday, but Celly didn't care. Kennedy deserved to have fun and take a break from her adult responsibilities for a while.
