It was interesting that even with closure and understanding, a problem could still take its toll on you. Saint and Celeste's relationship was facing many difficulties, and it was indeed a struggle. Although they were on the same page, Saint was still suffering inside. Grief was entirely different for him. It didn't hit until much time after the initial shock.
It was rare to witness Saint's true emotions. People carried their grief in cycles and his was entering the next phase. After attempting to cover the sadness with staying busy, his body was starting to slow down.
"Saint? You hear me talking?" The sound of Salem's voice echoed through his head. The sound snapped him from his thoughts, Saint nodded.
"I'm listening." Salem's face held an unreadable expression.
Salem continued speaking, "So what's happening now? Y'all trying again, letting shit rest for a second, or?"
Faith held her son while replying, "Did the doctors ever say why she miscarried?"
Saint responded to Faith's question, "They were saying a bunch of shit, but something about improper implanting."
The sound of Saint's nephew crying dragged his attention to the baby. He held his arms out, to which Faith placed the sleepy baby into his arms.
The once rowdy and exhausted boy was now peaceful. Saint held him with a sense of relief from reality. He believed God sent this baby specifically for this situation.
Saint sighed, "I think it's just now starting to set in. Ion think we gone ever have another baby. She went through so much with Sanai and now this. It's been nothing but fucking trauma. She won't even talk to me, our last real conversation was last week."
"But- I thought you wanted another kid?" Salem questioned before sipping from the cup. Saint shrugged, "Maybe it's the universe teaching me a lesson."
"I don't know. You were so damn adamant on another kid." Faith pointed out, her statement was very truthful.
Summer asked, "Have you talked to Celeste about it?"
"Nah, it's way too soon. That shit would break her. I ain't really too up for talking about kids right now either."
The room went silent for a long time before Faith spoke up, "She did my hair the other day and it was definitely a different energy in the salon."
"That's where it happened." Saint revealed and Faith's eyes widened in surprise. She sent him a look of remorse, "I didn't-"
"I know."
The three continued talking amongst each other. This was the most serious conversation they'd had in months. Typically their conversations were lighthearted and humorous, in contrast, this was the complete opposite.
There wasn't any competition or hatred between the brothers. Summer was quieter than usual. Maybe her mind was focused more so on her academic studies. Faith had a face that displayed her every thought and she couldn't control it. She looked sad, but that didn't matter much. She had a baby to carry out the door either way.
