UNITY DAY WAS THE ONE ARK TRADITION THAT
Jasmine knew well of. In the absence of human company, she had books. She read about the history of Earth, and what the war that led the world ending. She read about mysteries of bunkers hidden in the Earth. She read about the human race migrating to space, trying to conserve what was left of an entire species of people.

Before the Ark was formed, there were twelve space stations. Unity Day celebrated when the stations came together to form the Ark. It was the union of the stations that led to the creation of their home in space. Each year, on the anniversary, they celebrated Unity Day.

This was the first time Jasmine was celebrating.

"My friends, this is an historic Unity Day. Every year, we mark the moment our ancestors of the twelve stations joined to form the Ark, but this is the last time we do so whole aboard her. Next year- on the ground."

"Right..." Miller rolled his eyes as they watched the Unity Day ceremony through the video system, streaming down from the Ark. He scoffed at Chancellor Jaha's words. "After we did all the work. Someone shut him up."

"You shut up, Miller." Raven countered back at him. "No one's forcing you to watch."

"Yeah, Miller." Waverly said, smirking from beside Raven. "Shut up and listen to Jaha's boring speech."

Jasmine laughed at her words, watching the ceremony with admiration. "I've never celebrated Unity Day," she shrugged. "As boring as the speech may be, I still find it rather exciting." Although, she supposed most would be exciting after spending her life in a cell.

"Whoo! Yeah! Monty strikes again!" Jasper hooted out, rushing from a tent with a barrel filled with moonshine. "Call this batch Unity Juice! Who's thirsty?!"

Unity Day had always been a favourite celebration of Waverly's. It was one of the few holidays her people still celebrated, after a near century of readjustments to life. It had her thinking of the pageant back on the Ark, and the days when she would be participating in it. Her mother always loved having her in the pageant. Her Nana did too.

Growing older, she became fond of the Unity Day dance. A masquerade ball thrown for the older children, one she enjoyed when she was sixteen. She missed last years, being in lockup for it. Instead of dancing away in the celebration through camp, she found herself hiding away in a tent with Raven, sipping away on the hard taste of Monty's moonshine. Raven went without any of the alcohol, focusing on making bullets for their new rifles.

Finn walked into the tent, his eyebrows raised towards them. "Making bullets on Unity Day."

"The Grounders don't know it's Unity Day." Raven stated simply.
