JASMINE AWOKE TO ASH AND DUST.
It's all she could smell; it was all she could taste. With the ringing in her ears, she gasped out. Her eyes stung with tears, her body twisted from wherever she laid. Crumples of rocks around her, leaving her body covered in scrapes. She could barely move.

Jasmine wasn't sure if it was if it was from her body being damaged to the point of no return, or if hurt too much to try. Her chest heaved up as she gasped, slightly panicked as she blinked, trying to focus on the village around her. All she could taste was the smoke as inhaled, and it was all she could smell. Sizzling smoke as everything burned, not just the village, but the people inside.

The ringing in her ears eventually faded, allowing everything to get louder. The muffled sounds of screams didn't sound as terrifying as the clear cries of those around her. It's all she could hear. She continued gasping out, fear filling her aching body. The last time she had felt fear like that was at the dropship, listening and watching her friends die in battle.

"Jasmine!" Someone shouted. She pushed up at her name. She blinked at the body that hovered over her. "Jasmine, are you okay?!"

Octavia.

"I- I don't know." Jasmine muttered out. She watched burning orange fires filling the village. "What- What happened?"

"It was a missile." Octavia said. "It was the Mountain Men. Are you okay?" Her arm went to Jasmine's back, helping her stand up. Jasmine nodded her head, not knowing if it was the right answer to the question. She wobbled forward, feeling the ache of her body as she did. "Jaz, your hair."

"What about it?" She mumbled out, her voice quiet. Her fingers reached up, pulling through her hair. She frowned at the length, knowing her hair should go past her shoulders. She felt the seared ends, smelling the burning stench from them. "Oh..."

Looking around the village, Jasmine quickly realised there were worse things than her hair burning.

"Stay here." Octavia said, trying to help her sit down.

"No." Jasmine gripped tightly to her hand, shaking her head. "I'm coming with you. I want to help."

"Jaz, you're hurt." Octavia pointed out.

"Not badly, not seriously." Jasmine shook her head. "I can help."

She heard Nyko shouting for help, pulling a body from rubble. On trembling legs, Jasmine rushed over. She looked down at the body of the woman. Nyko only shook his head as Abby came to help.

"What?" Abby stared at him. "But she's still alive."

"We save those who can be saved." Nyko said, moving on.
