THE EXCITEMENT OF EARTH QUICKLY FADED
away to the planet's dangers. Since arriving, it started to seem like only bad things happened. Two of the delinquents who died upon the impact of landing. The river snake that nearly killed Octavia. The spear that killed Jasper.

Forget radiation. Earth was dangerous enough without it.

Jasmine's eyes burned as much as her chest, the aching pain from running. Death surrounded her. It was new and foreign, and she hated it. She didn't experience death in her cell. She never thought she'd miss the stupid cell so much, but she found herself craving the familiarity and safety of it.

She couldn't go back to her cell. All she could do was run. So that's what she did. She just kept running, swallowing the fear that consumed her. She didn't stop until Monty fell. She turned back at the sight of him, dropping down next to him to help him up.

"Monty, come on." Waverly said, an arm wrapped under Octavia's shoulders, hoisting her up as she helped her get through the woods on a bad leg. "We have to..."

Waverly stopped, looking down at the bones that scattered the ground in front of Monty.

Jasmine's stomach twisted. "I'm gonna be sick," she mumbled out, her hand tightening over Monty's. He only squeezed her hand back, finding the same comfort in the gesture as she did.

Finn looked down at the bones. "Who are they?"

Clarke picked up one of the skulls, disfigured and larger than a normal human skull. "What are they?"

Octavia stared at the skull, shaking her head. "We are so screwed."

A loud scream of pain rippled through the forest.

Clarke dropped the skull. "Jasper! He's alive."

"Clarke, no!" Waverly shouted as the girl went running back. "Wait, wait!" She twisted, holding tightly to Octavia as they hobbled along after Clarke, back towards the river and Jasper's body.

Finn grabbed Clarke, pulling her down. "Stay out of the trees," he warned her. He then looked across the river, to where Jasper's body should have been. "He was right there."

"No," Monty shook his head. "Where is he?"

Clarke sighed out, "they took him."

Whoever they were.

Seven left, but only six returned. It was a solemn thing, reenforced by the new additions to the camp around the dropship. Two graves had been dug, for the two boys that died on landing. The sight had Waverly stopping dead, not wanting to think of a third being added for Jasper.
