CHAPTER SEVEN: SHOOTING STARS
"do not hazel me right now, you idiot"
A BOOM ACROSS THE SKY WOKE THE DROPSHIP
camp. Waverly pushed out from where she slept, grabbed her jacket and rushed out of her tent. Harper woke from the sound, hurrying out with Waverly. The sound had brought most of the delinquents from their pitched tents around the camp, gathering to look at the sky, brightened by something crashing down to the Earth.A pod. It was small, too small to be a dropship, but it was from the Ark. Even when Monty fried the rest of the wristbands in his attempt to contact them, they still sent something down. The Ark was still holding out hope for the hundred.
"It's from the Ark?" Harper muttered out beside Waverly. Waverly nodded her head, watching the parachute come from the pod, slowing its landing. She turned to the gathering crowd, watching as Octavia and Jasmine rushed from their own tent.
"Bellamy, get out here!" Octavia called out towards her brother's tent.
Bellamy hurried out, shirtless with only his pants on. Two girls, Roma and Bree, followed him from his tent, both wrapped in blankets. Waverly looked away from the girls, knowing exactly why they would have been in Bellamy's tent. Her stomach twisted at the thought, a feeling she could only describe as disgust.
"They're coming to help us!" Jones cried out.
Sam laughed out with a smirk, looking towards Bellamy. It was the happiest he looked since the wristbands had been fried, realising the hope of contacting the Ark and his girlfriend was diminishing. The hope in his green eyes was back. "Now we can kick some Grounder ass!"
Roma only held the blanket tighter around her. "Please tell me they brought some shampoo."
Bellamy led a meeting into one of the tents. Jones, Miller, and Sam went in with him, being three of the closest delinquents that followed Bellamy. Waverly headed inside with Harper, Octavia, and Jasmine. She was eager to hear what the plan was, and when they would be leaving to find that pod.
"If it cleared the ridge, then it's probably near the lake." Sam said, looking towards Bellamy.
"We should get moving." Octavia said, turning to her brother. "Everyone's ready."
Bellamy shook his head. "No one's going anywhere. Not while it's dark, it isn't safe. We'll head out at first light, pass the word."
"Bellamy, are you kidding?" Waverly exclaimed as the tent cleared out. She stayed inside with Octavia, facing Bellamy and his decision.
Octavia blocked him from leaving. "Everyone for a hundred miles saw this thing come down. What if the Grounders get to it first? Bell, we should go now."
Bellamy only shook his head. "I said we wait until sunrise."
