A HUNDRED KIDS SENT TO DIE, FOURTEEN IN
the ground. The numbers dwindled quickly, a constant reminder that surviving on the ground wasn't as easy as they hoped it would be. Waverly looked away from the fourteen dug graves, remembering how it was Wells that created the graveyard. He was in one of those graves now too.

It seemed too quick, how they were dying. They lost four to the virus. They had lost many before that. They didn't even have graves for Trina, Pascal, or Charlotte- bodies that would never be found.

She walked back from the graveyard, returning to the walls around the camp. She stopped when she saw Clarke on a hill, walking up the slope towards her. She was looking out for Grounders, waiting for the attack they knew was coming.

"Anything?" Bellamy asked.

Clarke shook her head. "It's been two days. Maybe the bomb at the bridge scared them off for good."

"Do you really believe that?" Waverly asked.

Clarke shook her head. "No. They're coming."

"Jasper thinks he can cook up some more gunpowder, if he gets some sulfur." Bellamy said, looking towards the two as he tried to offer hope. "And Raven says Haze and her can turn that into landmines so...be careful where you step."

"Funny." Clarke nodded.

"What I really need is a thousand more of her tin can bombs so I can roll into their village and blow those Grounders to hell."

Waverly blinked at him. "That's violent."

Bellamy sighed at the two. "That's what they want to do to us."

Clarke shook her head. "I can't believe we survived for a hundred years just so we could slaughter each other. There has to be another way."

"Any work from the Ark?" Bellamy asked.

"Radio silence." Waverly answered, constantly checking in on the radio. Her Nana was still up there in space, and she wasn't ready to give up hope that she was gone too. It seemed more than likely she was.

Bellamy sighed, "they finally ran out of air."

"Maybe my mom was lucky, being on the Exodus ship." Clarke looked towards Waverly. "At least it was quick. No one's coming down to save us."

Waverly shrugged, "I guess we have to save ourselves."

"Let's get this party smoking." Del chirped, walking into the smokehouse. He immediately started adding more logs to the fire.
