After stepping out of the car, Xiang Mingzhang and Shen Ruozhen entered the business club to meet with the company representative from Ningli Medicine at noon.
The project was essentially completed and ready to enter the signing process. However, certain business details needed to be finalized by both parties.
Previously serving as the president's secretary, Shen Ruozhen had made suggestions but didn't have to worry about signing contracts. However, now as the director of the sales department, several steps required his signature.
While internal company documents posed no issue, business contracts required the utmost attention and precision. Shen Ruozhen still maintained his pseudonym, "Chu Zhichen," and if his true identity were to be exposed in the future, his signature could impact the validity of the contracts.
Hence, Shen Ruozhen requested Xiang Mingzhang's assistance in handling and signing the contracts.
It had been a while since the two of them accompanied clients together. Nonetheless, their collaboration yielded fruitful results with minimal effort, and the negotiations proceeded smoothly.
Returning to the company in the afternoon, Shen Ruozhen held a meeting with the legal department to fine-tune the contractual details. By the end of it, the table was littered with drafts. He couldn't help but recall what Xiang Mingzhang had mentioned in the car - Xiang Long needed to sign the agreement before returning.
In the following week, Xiang Mingzhang was absent from the company, preoccupied with matters concerning the Xiang Yue Group.
Though the two companies were unrelated, the boss's family affairs inevitably became the subject of discussion among the employees. Speculations arose that Xiang Yue might undergo a significant change.
Shen Ruozhen, always composed and focused, immersed himself in his work like an unruffled mountain. He worked overtime three or four times and sensed his energy gradually returning to its original level.
Yet again, it was late at night, and his phone began vibrating on the table.
Xiang Mingzhang was calling.
Shen Ruozhen released the mouse, picked up his phone, and answered, "Hello?"
Having spoken excessively during the day's meetings, Xiang Mingzhang's voice grew hoarse. He said, "I'll return to the company tomorrow and stay for a while. I'll go through urgent documents from this week and prioritize them."
Frowning, Shen Ruozhen asked, "Is there anything else?"
Xiang Mingzhang replied, "Notify Peng Xin and Meng Tao to discuss their project briefly."
Shen Ruozhen further inquired, "And what about Yisi?"
"I can't handle it anymore. It's fine, Yisi..." Xiang Mingzhang paused for a moment, before finally realizing, "You're in charge."
Helplessly, Shen Ruozhen smiled, "Are you not accustomed to the new secretary?"
Xiang Mingzhang uttered an apologetic "Sorry."
In recent days, he had been so busy that, upon waking up from a nap, he wasn't fully coherent and ended up calling Shen Ruozhen directly.
"Did I disturb your resting time?" he asked.
Shen Ruozhen reassured him, "No, I'm still at the office."
Xiang Mingzhang, seemingly fatigued, responded with a casual "Aren't you off work yet?"
"Soon," Shen Ruozhen reassumed his secretary's tone. "Mr. Xiang, please hang up after explaining and go wash your face."
Once the call ended, Shen Ruozhen stayed for an additional half an hour. He switched off the lights, locked the office door, and the park fell into complete darkness.
