Chapter 5
It looks like your eyes.

• Later that night •

Yakuza Village
Kazuo's House

Kazuo sighed as he looked through his messages. His phone kept vibrating from Mitsuru's texts. Mitsuru was a young lawyer. She had met Kazuo through his mother, who tried to arrange a marriage. Kazuo agreed to one date with her, then a second one, and a third one. He didn't mean to lead her on, but Mitsuru was insistent.

From Mitsuru:
How was your day?
We should go out soon.
Have you seen the new Marvel movie?
Let's watch it together.

Kazuo groaned loudly. The deal with his mother was off. She would come back to bother him if he kept rejecting Mitsuru. Even Kenichi started to pressure him to find a girlfriend to marry before taking over the clan. But he couldn't picture himself with Mitsuru at all. He wasn't interested in anybody.

Kazuo: I'll pick you up tomorrow night.
Mitsuru: Tomorrow, I can't. The day after?
Kazuo: Find the time. It's tomorrow.
Mitsuru: Okay.

Kazuo threw his phone on the couch and stepped out to his porch, grabbing a blunt.

Shinjuku, Tokyo
Park

Ian and Kali slowly walked together into the park. They found swings to sit on. Kali lightly swayed while Ian smoked his blunt, passing it to her at times. "Kali..." he sang her name.

She was staring at the ground, guilt all over her. She looked at the smiley Ian. "Hm?"
Ian rolled his eyes at her reaction. "Am I supposed to comfort you about your new ex all night?" he asked, chuckling.

Kali frowned. "Don't you think I'd need time?" she said, annoyed. "Go if you don't want to see me like this," she complained, crossing her arms. "I feel awful."

Ian stared at her, trying to understand her feelings. But his happiness was too big. "I get it. Kinda," he said, lightly smiling.

Kali raised an eyebrow. "What are you smiling at?"

Ian looked away, chuckling. "I'm sorry. I'm happy. You can't blame me, love," he grinned.

Kali sighed. She wondered if she was making a mistake. But the model had made her decision. "You better not be fucking with me, Ian," she threatened. "I swear that I'll get you killed for that..."

Ian licked his lower lip, taking a deep breath. "You won't have to. I'll treat you well. Better than ever before," he promised, pulling on her swing to bring her closer.

Kali held in a smile. He leaned in to peck her cheek, making her blush. She felt goosebumps, making her shiver. "You can't do that yet," she complained playfully.

Ian cocked an eyebrow. "Huh? Why not?"

Kali shrugged. "Last time I checked, I was single," she noted.

"Ah..." Ian chuckled, poking his inner cheek with his tongue. "I know you so well... Right. Where are my manners?" he said, reaching for something in his jacket pocket. "My bad..."
