Chapter 39
I'm nice today

Minato, Tokyo
Okura Hotel

JK stopped the bike in front of the lobby. The ride had been silent. He tried not to swerve too much on Haemi so she wouldn't get scared. She still screamed a few times. She got off the bike and gave him the helmet while looking at the hotel's entrance. "Thank you for-"

"I didn't mean to make you sick," JK spoke firmly. He looked at Haemi's tired and sorry eyes. He looked away, sighing deeply. He took his helmet off and hopped off the bike as well. For the whole ride, he was reciting her words repeatedly. He put two and two together and figured out the reason for her sleepless nights, her sleeping pills, and her dissociation episodes were all his fault. He hated it. "I already told you. I'm sorry about what happened, but Haemi, I need to know something."Haemi was silent, eyes big and staring at his pissed form. He hesitated before he spoke. "Will you ever forgive me? Am I doing all of this for nothing? I'm not hoping to get you back with me anymore. I want your forgiveness, but would you ever give it?"

Haemi's jaw dropped. The amount of information was a lot for her. "I- This isn't fa-"

"It's a simple question, though. Either yes or no. But I'm tired and sick of your push-and-pull games."

"It's not a game! I can't control what it feels like. Do you even get me?"

JK stared at her, eyes cold and insensitive. "Just tell me now if you'll ever get over my stupid 20-year-old self."

Haemi glared back at him, offended. She wanted to tell him she would but knew her heart was still hurting. "Jungkook. Time goes and goes, but it still hurts... I don't know why. I'm trying to make a decision, but-"

"So, how long am I supposed to keep trying? Do you know how-" he stopped, noticing her watery eyes. "Right..."

Haemi sniffed, frowning. She hated feeling this weak. "I'm sorry..."

"Yeah..." JK sighed, putting his helmet back on. "I'm going back to the YV. Get in. Call me if needed." He started the engine and revved it a few times.

Haemi was speechless. She turned around, refusing to cry in front of him and embarrass herself more than she did. She walked towards the gates, hearing the bike ride away noisily.

JK rode to the YV more or less safely, arriving near Kali's house. He knew Ian was there, so that was where he'd have to park the bike. He sat on it for a few minutes, staring at the lake, before he heard something open. He instinctively looked at Kali's balcony and saw his brother looking down at him. "Your bike is back."

"Thank you," Ian said with no smile on. He studied his younger brother's features. "What happened?"

     "It's nothing. Don't worry."

Kali then walked to her balcony, joining Ian. "Hi JK! How is Haemi?"

     JK chuckled. "She's safe."

Kali nodded, also studying JK. "And how are you?"

JK didn't answer, his eyes still on the couple.

Ian took a shower while Kali prepared breakfast for JK. He had agreed to come in and talk. He watched her, slightly confused. "Why don't you get a maid for this?"

Kali looked back at him, amused. "I moved out of the main house to feel normal. What's the point if I have a maid here as well? If I'm lazy, I'll go to my father's house and ask for food. Do you not want me to make your breakfast?" she asked with an unserious frown.
