Chapter 15
Keep your eyes on me.

•The next day•

Ginza, Tokyo
Kota's gym

"Mr. Yu is here to see you, Kota," Keisuke told the champion, interrupting his reps.

Kota stopped and nodded at the information. "Where is he?" he asked, looking around.

Keisuke pointed to the stairs. "He's in the president's office. I told him to wait for you there," he said. "I'm not sure why he wants to meet," he confessed.

Kota shrugged. "I already don't like this," he mumbled, sliding his gloves off. He tried to shake the thought of him being in Kali's agency. Kota lazily walked to the stairs. He stretched a little before knocking on the office door. He opened the door and saw Ian leaning at the desk.

Ian was smoking a cigar and wearing a suit with a loose tie. "Hello, Kota," he greeted, sighing smoke up.

Kota stood at the door, looking Ian up. He unwrapped his hands, looking at him. "Mr. Yu. What brings you here?"

Ian stared Kota down, pulling a thick drag off the cigar. "Congrats on your last fight," he started as Kota slightly bowed. I have an offer for you. If you do one thing for me, I can ensure you win the next championship in the US."

Kota's head tilted. "Make sure I win? Do you mean you want to rig the game?"

Ian chuckled. "How do you think you've won all this time?"

Kota froze. "With all due respect, I've trained hard all those years. If the fights were rigged, I would have noticed..." he stated, growing annoyed.

Ian shook his head. "Well. Not all of them. You're quite strong, luckily. But it's not a problem because I don't mind helping." Ian reassured.

Kota's pride was hurt. "What do you need from me?" he asked, anger visible.

"Stay away from Soma Kali," Ian said, tapping his cigar against the ashtray. "And when I say away, I mean, don't even think about breathing near her anymore."

"You... It's you..." Kota sighed, feeling the utmost betrayal. "I should have known. I knew she was weird..." he mumbled. Kota tried to hide his anger but couldn't bear seeing Ian smile so comfortably.

Ian sniffed sharply. "Do we have a deal? It's a win-win. You get over your ex, and you win the championship. I'm being generous," he added, bringing more rage to Kota.

The boxer clenched his fists. "You should get out," he hissed, glaring at Ian.

Ian wasn't impressed, but he complied. "You're right; I should. I'll consider that you agree to my terms," Ian said as he walked towards Kota to reach the door. He stopped at the champion's level, putting his hand on his shoulder. "Don't be too prideful, though. It's nothing personal," Ian smiled before stepping out.

"Fuck you..." Kota said once Ian was away.

"I don't want you to do business with him, JK," Kenichi spoke sternly. JK had tried to get Kenichi back into Dynasty without success. "I'm not playing with that," he scolded.

JK chuckled like a kid, sitting on the couch in the living room. "Ah, come on, uncle. You can't stay mad at him. Aren't you childhood friends?" he tried again, amused by the older man's pettiness.
