Chapter 44
In case of an emergency•The next morning•
Yakuza Village, Tokyo
Ian x JK HouseHaemi's eyes fluttered open. She felt groggy, and her eyes were puffed. She heard a noise downstairs, making her remember where she was. JK let her sleep in his room, and he slept in Ian's. She looked around, seeing the small pile of clean clothes he got her. She spent most of the night having dark thoughts and feeling lost. Haemi uncovered herself and walked downstairs, wearing JK's shirt. She could hear calm jazz playing and JK singing along lazily while he cooked eggs and rice. She froze, noticing his half-naked state. His back looked broader and more muscular than before. He would make a perfect med-school model. You could see all his muscles distinctly. She remembered how she would scratch her back, marking him. The way he enjoyed it and would pin her on the bed, sucking on her skin. She shook her head to wake from her daydream when he turned around.
"You're up..." He eyed her up and down, gaze pausing where the shirt illegally stopped. Way too high for his sake. "Do you want to eat now?"
"You have a pretty voice," Haemi commented about his impromptu singing. She walked into the kitchen and looked at what he cooked. "This looks nice. Thank you."
"No problem... How do you feel?"
Haemi shrugged and faked a smile. "I don't know. Thank you for what you said yesterday. About me being human? I hate that this hurts me... But you're right." He genuinely made her feel better about her feelings.
"You're more sensitive than you'd like to admit," he slightly teased her, his bunny smile showing.
She playfully rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever." She walked past him, unknowingly intoxicating him with her scent.

"How is he?" JK asked Haemi after her phone call with Mika.
"Father is refusing help, so he's decent." She put her phone down and sighed deeply. "Why did Ian Oppa do that? Kill Kyo."
JK shrugged, not having a decent answer. "To help you."
She scoffed slightly. "Why would he help me? Wasn't he having a manic episode?" No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't determine Ian's motive. She believed he didn't like her.
He nodded. "A calm one. And it doesn't stop him from having motives. He wanted to help you because he thought I was too slow. Maybe I was..."
"What about murder charges? What is he going to do?"
JK chuckled. "Silly. Kyo isn't the Prime Minister. Such a harmless murder won't be trouble. Hyung is the Godfather."
Haemi frowned, still perplexed. There was too much logistics and organization. "Your plan seemed easier for me to handle..."
"You were the same when you suddenly chopped the Prime Minister into pieces. Too rushed with good intentions," he teased her more.
"Ha. Ha. Ha. Okay, Jake. Easy on the jabs, please," she rolled her eyes. "You let me do it, so you were rushed too. Or, you lost all authority on me?"
"Have I ever had any authority on you, Noona," he asked, using her dear nickname. "You never give up your control."
Haemi ignored the cute word and shrugged it off, acting unphased. "I don't know. Have you?"
