Chapter 3
I need to think

Akasaka, Tokyo
Haemi's House

Haemi showered for 30 minutes. Her mind was everywhere, but more on JK. She recalled how he stared at her, his laughter and voice. And she hated it all. Everything she shoved in the past resurfaced. After her long shower, she numbly did her morning routine, lost. She grabbed her phone and sighed as she opened the group chat.

ParkHaemi: I'm assuming that you both knew about JK
Sora: First of all, hello.
ParkHaemi: why didn't you tell me?
Sora: ???? Do I owe you?
MayaSan: Let's all meet! Kali has some stuff to tell me anyway.
Sora: When?
ParkHaemi: And where? Cause my house is a no.
MayaSan: Come to the YV! Come to my house tonight—both of you.

Haemi bit her lip. She had to work until late. She hadn't visited the YV in years. Why would she? "Isn't JK there? I don't want to bump into him..." she muttered. She jumped when she heard Kyo knock on the bathroom door.
"Honey? Can we talk?" he asked.
Haemi rolled her eyes. She sighed deeply. She put her phone away and opened the door. "Maybe later. I'm going out with my friends tonight," she warned, walking past him.
     Kyo followed. "Who?"
"How many friends do I have? Amaya and Kali..." she said, walking down the stairs. "Don't wait for me for dinner." She started putting her shoes on.
Kyo sighed and grabbed her by the wrist. "Haemi... About yesterday, I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry," he insisted. "I woke up thinking about it, and..." Kyo started blabbering about the gala.
     Haemi froze, staring at him.
This dude really won't let it go...
"Honey..." Haemi smiled at him, interrupting. She grabbed his hand to hold. "It's fine. I promise that I'm not mad. But I really want to go out with my friends..." she explained. It was all lies. She was mad. But it wasn't all his fault. She reassured him as she could. "Are we ok?"
Kyo looked at her hands, and felt better. He nodded at her words. "Alright... Have fun tonight, then. Say hi to them for me," he smiled.
Haemi nodded and pulled away, finally heading out for her shift at Dynasty. She sighed and took a cab to the hospital. "Fake it till you make it..."

Yakuza Village
Gates

Kali had walked from her house to the entrance. She waited for Naomi to pick her up, but the agent was late. Kali spotted Kazuo, Yoru, and a few Yakuza by the gates. She walked to them. "Hey, you guys," the girl greeted everyone. She sat next to Kazuo, who put his arm on her shoulder.
"There she is. We were talking about you," Kazuo messed up Kali's hair playfully.
Kali groaned, fixing her hair. "What about me?"
Yoru chuckled. "We were wondering how you will break up with Kota..."
Kali's jaw dropped. "You're so mean, Yoru!"
The group of guys laughed. Kazuo patted the top of her head. "You should call me or Yoru when you do it. Just in case he decides to be crazy..."
Kali rolled her eyes. "Who says that I'm breaking up with him?" She crossed her arms. The boys paused before all laughing at the same time. Even Kali didn't believe the words coming out of her mouth. She sighed. "Kota would never hurt me..."
Kazuo hummed. "You never know. You've never broken up with him before..." he said in a more stern tone. "How smoothly do you think it would go?"
Kali blinked. "I'm... I don't..." she stuttered. The girl had prepared what she would say but not how Kota would react. She didn't have time to form her thoughts. Ian and JK walked to the gates to join everyone. Kali felt her heart rush at the sight. The suit was gone. He displayed his body art, wearing a white tank top.
Kazuo noticed Kali's state. "Is that your heartbeat?" he teased, trapping her.
Kali tried to escape, but Kazuo's grip was too tight. "Stop!" she begged while the Yu brothers walked to them.
Kazuo grinned. "You're so cute..." he bullied her more. "What's good, Yu boys?"
Only then did Kali notice Jessi and Hwasa walking behind them. Jessi gasped loudly. "Oh my god! It's the princess!" she said, pushing Ian out of her way. Her heels clicked on the floor. She didn't hesitate to push Kazuo off and pull Kali against her breast. "I've missed you!"
Kali hid in Jessi's breast, avoiding Ian's stare. The DPR members greeted the Yakuza at the entrance.
As soon as Jessi pulled away, Ian faced Kali. "Hi," he said with a light smile. The group started making noises, making fun of them. Ian didn't bother asking them to stop.
Kali tried to keep her composure. "Hi..." she looked up at him, staring into his dark eyes.
Yoru was the loudest. "Oppa!" he said before covering his mouth. Jessi and Hwasa held each other during the interaction while JK laughed.
Ian ignored everyone, focused. "How do you feel?"
Kali could barely hear him because of how loud everyone was. "Huh? I'm good... What about you?" She fixed her hair when the wind messed it up.
Ian casually put a strand of her hair behind her ear. "That's great," he nodded. "I'm decent. What are you doing today? Is Naomi late?" he said as if everyone wasn't screaming at what he had just done.
Kali was internally screaming as well. Without the S. "She's only late when she can't find a babysitter for Kyoko," Kali said.
Naomi arrived then, parking the car by the group. The agent gulped at the sight of Kazuo. Kyoko was in the backseat, playing with her doll. "Alright! Look! It's Kali!" Naomi sang despite her stress.
The group surrounded the car to greet Naomi. Ian walked next to Kali. "Oh? She had a baby? That's amazing," he said. When he reached Naomi, he said, "Congratulations, Naomi."
Naomi waved from inside the car, surprised to see Ian again. "Oh. You're... Hello. Thank you..." she said, eyeing Kali. She was curious to know what happened, so much that she forgot her stress about Kazuo. "Hi, Kazuo," she smiled.
The yakuza heir grinned. "You know, my offer still stands. I can find you a babysitter from the village," he reminded her.
     Naomi shook her head.
     Nuh-uh! Not risking that...
     "I'm ok..." she lied.
Ian and JK looked through the backseat, spotting Kyoko. "Ah, so cute," JK grinned his bunny smile.
Ian frowned a little. "Doesn't she look like Kazuo?" he chuckled. The resemblance was striking, but people didn't seem to notice.
JK shrugged. "Not at all. Why would she look like him? She's much cuter," he said.
Kali sat in the car, and only Ian stood by it. "Give me a call when you're done," he asked.
She shook her head. "I'm going out tonight..."
Ian raised an eyebrow. "With him?"
     She chuckled. "No... With friends..."
"Good. Well... If you want to meet up after, contact me," he said.
Naomi started the car, making Ian step away. "Alright, let's go!" the agent said. Kali looked at the group, waving as Naomi drove away. So... What's with Ian?" she asked, making Kali look down.
