Chapter 17
I promise that I'll be back.

•That afternoon•

Shibuya, Tokyo
JR Tokyo General Hospital

Kota stared at the ceiling while Keisuke paced around the room. "How did this even happen? I can't believe this shit," the agent said.

BM stood beside the hospital bed, trying to think. "Just expose her and her family to get revenge. Kids are laughing at you. You can't let that slide!" BM tried to convince his friend.

Kota closed his eyes. "Expose Kali and her family? Do you want me to die? Did you not see- BM? Look at me," he pointed at his state. Broken ribs, nose, fingers, cervical and head trauma, shoulder dislocated. Kota was miserable. "What would happen to me if I exposed her?"

BM bit his lip, frustrated. Keisuke, the agent, was more than bitter. "Enough about the Yakuza. Don't speak so loud," he ordered the two. "I need to fix your reputation. I need a new deal. Are you sure Mr. Yu won't-"

"Shut up about him. I don't want to hear anything about Mr. Yu. Get out." Kota barked with wrath. "Get out of my room!"

BM and Keisuke both sighed and left the room, leaving Kota alone.

Akasaka, Tokyo
Haemi's house

"Hi," JK grinned, standing by the door.
Haemi was unphased seeing him there. "Didn't we agree that you shouldn't come here?" She crossed her arms.

JK nodded, still walking in. "I missed you," he smiled. He closed the front door and pulled her in his arms. "And you don't look like you wanted to go out," he noted.

Haemi fought the urge to hug him tightly. His scent felt like home more than her own house. But it would be too easy. "So what do you think is going to happen?" she asked, pulling away.

JK sensed irritation in her voice. "I mean... I just wanted to see you. Lately, it's only making out in the janitor's closet," he chuckled, looking down at her.

Haemi was staring back at him. "Okay? And?"

JK hummed. "Of course, I want more. I want you to leave Kyo and be mine," he stated confidently.

Haemi sighed, walking into the house. She looked around at the expensive furniture. She touched the soft wood of the dining table. "Jungkook-ssi... I've been thinking," she started. She turned back to him, sighing lightly. "Maybe we should stop this. It started in Santorini, and it was fun. But now, it has to stop. I'm only making you wait for something that will not happen."

JK bored into her eyes, listening carefully. "Haemi. You're trying to push me away. I'm not giving up on you," he replied, walking to her. "I get that you're scared. I get that this squirrel gives you security. But I can give you that and more. You have to trust me."

Haemi scoffed. "JK? You've given up on me before. Kyo never did. He might be annoying and stressful, but he gave me a home and a plan. You only hand me heartbreak and insomnia," she spoke too fast, regretting her last words. She had never talked about her sleeping habits to anyone.

JK overlooked it, thinking she was exaggerating. "I'm so sorry about what I did. But I'm not giving up. Even after you marry, I will try. I'll keep trying until you choose me in this life or the next. You're my only purpose," he grabbed her hands. "I'll give you a home you like. I'll give you a life to enjoy. I'll keep you safe from your father. I'll take care of Yeonjun. I'll do anything," JK poured his heart out, throwing all types of promises.
