Chapter 36.5
Kazuo's fans•A few days before the ceremony•
Kazuo's POV
I always thought Naomi was beautiful. She is. Her thick, long dark hair, gentle eyes, polite ways, and upturned slanted eyes—I noticed all that the first time I met her. I won't lie and say I liked her since the beginning, but I was always curious about her. I wanted to know her real personality. Something told me there was more to that hard-working and shy agent, and I was right. Tonight, though, I'm seeing way more than I hoped for. She walks out of her building wearing a dark green dress and high heels. It's not often that I see her pampered. She looks elegant and charming, holding her purse and fixing her hair. My driver waves at her, and I get out of the car to hold her door. I usually don't, but Kali told me that Naomi deserved it. She bows slightly and enters the vehicle so elegantly. I get to my seat, and the driver takes us to the restaurant for our first date. I asked her out after my ceremony. "You look pretty," I tell her, eyes on her.
She shakes her head and smiles. "I don't," she doesn't look at me.
"I like your dress," I tell her, changing how I compliment her since she wants to act up.
Naomi's eyes meet mine, a hint of pink on her cheek. It's adorable. "Thank you," she says, her voice soft. "You look good too..."
"I do," I reply, making her laugh.
We reach the restaurant I booked, and once again, I don't let my driver open Naomi's door. I open it and take her hand delicately to help her out of the car. I can tell she appreciated the gesture. It was good—very good. I put her hand on my arm and walked to the classy restaurant with her. It was a basic date, but I needed it.
•••
I was never into dating. Girls were too annoying, and I had no time, so I'd fool around with strippers or random women. Mitsuru was the first girl I've taken out on dates, and I never liked it. I didn't want her. But this is nice. Or it could have been nice if we weren't interrupted by fucking Mitsuru making a damn scene in public. She must have a death wish.
"You moved on so fast, Kazuo. This is the restaurant you promised to take me to..." Mitsuru says. I don't even know where she came from. I was flirting my way into Naomi's heart when Mitsuru suddenly gasped loudly. "I can't believe you..."
I side-eye her, wondering how she'd look with a bullet between her round eyes. I monitor my wife's reaction while this girl displays her desire to die. "Mitsuru... What are you doing here?" I ask her calmly.
The cute girl pouts, crossing her arms. "I thought I was your type, but you got married to... This..."
I raise an eyebrow. I'm pretty sure I could kill her in public and get away with it. "Don't insult my wife, Mitsuru."
She scoffs, looking at Naomi. "Don't get attached. He will drop you like a dirty sock."
Naomi slowly grabs the napkin from her lap and presses her lips with it. She clears her throat before smiling at Mitsuru. She's never looked so menacing... I kinda like it... "Listen, Mitsuru..." she starts, having me hooked already. "I don't care what happened between you two. I don't care if he picks you as a mistress. But there is one thing you'll need to get in that small head of yours," she warns, shocking me. Is this the same Naomi I married? No way. "This is the last time you embarrass my husband publicly and the last time you address me. I am not your little friend and can get you killed without a fuss. So behave when I'm around. Do you hear me, Mitsuru?"
Damn. If Yoru were here, he'd be screaming. I have to tell him about that later. Mitsuru's jaw shakes, and she looks at me with a pout. "Kazuo-kun..." she tries.
Naomi clears her throat. "I guess you didn't hear me. Kazuo, I would like to make my first death request as your wife."
I stare at her, amazed by her act. And I know it's just an act because of how her mouth purses. She's very uncomfortable and wants this situation to end. "Mitsuru, leave," I order. "Or my wife will ask for your murder, and I can't deny her." Mitsuru's eyes suddenly widen, and she storms out of the restaurant. Naomi resumes eating like nothing happened, but I can't. "You're a good actress..." I comment.
Naomi grabs her glass of wine and stares at me before she sips it. Her hand is slightly shaking. "I would never hurt anyone, but you need to handle your fans better before I get pissed," she suggested. "I hope you tell them everything I told Mitsuru because it's serious. I don't care about your mistresses, but I will not let them embarrass you or me like that. I just don't wanna see."
I tilt my head to the side. She's adorable. "Who's them? I told you that I'm not interested in getting a mistress. I have you."
"Who does she think she is?"
"Nobody, cutie," I say and watch her ears become red. "She's nobody. It won't happen again. But you did very well." I'm genuinely proud of her, even though she would never actually ask for the murder of anyone. I grab her hand and peck the back of it. "Relax, it's all over."
Naomi sighs and nods. "Right. I need to calm down. Otherwise, the flirty waitress will also get a piece of my mind..."
I grin. "The waitress?" This jealous act makes her cuter in my eyes. It's a side of her I never thought I'd see.
Naomi rolls her eyes, probably annoyed that I'm enjoying this. "Whatever..."
"I repeat: I'm only interested in you."
