Chapter 45
You deserve so much more.

Yakuza Village, Tokyo
Soma House

"One last time. I'll explain one last time," Drako said to Haemi as they sat in the living room. Kali returned from almost dying and was with Kazuo and Yoru in the office upstairs. Ian and JK were smoking outside, and Haemi was a lost lamb. She still hadn't talked to Kali and couldn't comprehend all the information. So Drako offered his explanation.

"Ok... I'll get it this time." It wasn't her fault. It was a complicated situation, and all the murders didn't click.

"The Yu brothers came to Japan to make a deal. Like an alliance solidified by Kali marrying Ian. Optional, but better. Kali isn't aware of that arrangement because she would marry him either way. Right? And Ian would marry her without the deal. But it was a way for Kenichi to secure a share in Korea."

"Most likely, yes." Haemi nodded. "But why is it being questioned now?"

"So, Ian came to Okinawa to get Kali back but found out about her uncle abusing her. It turned out that her uncle was the Prime Minister, but Ian didn't care. He killed the uncle, causing a major problem with foreign affairs. The public needed a culprit, so Ian and Jake volunteered, as it would ease tensions and allow them to identify snitches and imposters in DPR. Meanwhile, the police and the Yakuza discussed a plan. The Yakuza would give away the legendary Soma Kenichi to maintain their current deal without facing further consequences, ensuring the Yakuza remained untouchable. Are you still following?"

Haemi nodded curtly. "But I messed up because they won't have a believable autopsy for the trial now?"

"Exactly. The transition is already bad because people think Kazuo only cares about himself rather than his clan because he married an outsider and because he's friends with the Koreans who are responsible for this big mess. So now, with the police cutting a deal, he's in a difficult situation."

"How can he gain his people's trust? If there's one thing Kazuo cares about, it's clan!" Haemi defended him. "And cars..."

Drako chuckled. "If Kenichi goes to prison and Kali stays here, Kazuo will gain more trust as a good leader.  The police will work with us, and we might not get the Korean shares, but we don't need them. But we both know that's not happening. Cause Kazuo loves his clan the most, but his family is more important. He can't tell Kali to stay."

"Ian Oppa fucked up by killing the wrong guy. That's it." Haemi stated.

Drako smiled at her. "And you fucked up by putting your nose where it didn't belong, doctor! I see you trying to pick a culprit. You're part of this, too, but at least Ian is still helping. What are you doing?" he was teasing her, but Haemi bit her lips from nerves.

"I'm... I didn't want Uncle Ken to go to prison!" she defended.

"And Ian didn't want Kali to be hurt anymore," Drako shrugged. "You Koreans, really..." he kept teasing. "Impulsive people..." he joked.

"What do you think he's gonna do?"

Drako looked to the garden, where a few Yakuza sat and talked. "He'll deal with it. He'll eventually find a way to get the police back in his pocket. And he'll make people submit to him even if they don't trust him. He'll have the same results, but it will take longer. He's destined to be a great leader anyway."

"You admire him a lot, huh?" Haemi grinned at Drako's tender words towards Kazuo.

"Shut up..."
