TAEKOOK. Kim Taehyung is a male omega whose beauty is unmatched, but that does not stop his fated mate from rejecting him when they come of age to recognize each other. The reason is that Taehyung carries the mark of a barren tree, which signifies i...
Jungkook turned to face Taemin, his eyes narrowed. Taemin stood across the arena, exuding an almost unsettling calm. He was a seasoned fighter, renowned for his cunning and agility. He and Kihyun were almost identical -calculated, precise, and utterly devoid of mercy.
The whistle blew, emitting a sharp, piercing sound that snapped Jungkook back to reality. Taemin swiftly moved, a blur of graceful motion. His attack was a dance of feints and jabs. He moved fluidly, probing, testing, and searching for an opening.
Jungkook anticipated the feints, recalling Namjoon's mantra: "Anticipate, adapt, overcome." He mimicked Taemin's movements, his body poised like a coiled spring ready to strike. Blocking a swift jab with his forearm, he felt the impact resonate through his bones. In return, he unleashed a flurry of rapid punches, compelling Taemin to retreat.
However, Taemin proved to be elusive, akin to smoke in the wind. He skillfully evaded Jungkook's attacks, dodging and weaving with finesse. Responding with quick kicks, he targeted Jungkook's pressure points -his knees, ribs, and temples.
Jungkook felt the sting of the blows, but he refused to yield. He knew this was a test of endurance, a battle of wills. He had to stay focused, stay strong, and stay in the fight.
He realized Taemin was trying to tire him out, trying to bait him into making a mistake. He had to change his strategy. He had to be unpredictable.
He dropped his guard slightly, feigning fatigue. Taemin pounced, seeing his chance. He launched a powerful kick aimed at Jungkook's head.
At the last moment, Jungkook ducked under the kick, grabbed Taemin's leg, and twisted it. Taemin cried out in pain, losing his balance. Jungkook didn't hesitate, he capitalized on the opening and unleashed a series of punches.
Taemin tried to block, but Jungkook's attack was relentless. He felt the satisfying crunch of bone as he connected with Taemin's jaw. Staggering back, Taemin was left dazed and disoriented.
Jungkook knew he had him. He could smell the fear radiating from Taemin, sensing his desperate struggle for survival. Pressing his advantage, Jungkook drove Taemin back with a series of punishing blows.
Realizing he was losing, Taemin saw that his carefully constructed facade of dominance was crumbling. He tried to shift, clenching his jaw with grit grinding between his teeth. Focusing his mind, he willed the change, needing the speed, strength, and primal fury of his wolf form to stand a chance.
But nothing happened.
Panic flared in his eyes, widening them with a stark, terrifying realization. He tried again, summoning the familiar surge of energy that heralded the shift, the tingling sensation as bone and muscle rearranged themselves. Still, nothing. He remained stubbornly, horrifyingly, human.
Taemin stumbled back, his hand flying to his throat as if to physically force the change. This couldn't be happening. The shift was as natural to him as breathing, a part of his very being. Was it the exhaustion? The stress? A rogue spell cast by someone lurking in the shadows? He didn't know, and the ignorance fueled his terror.
"Aww, the poor little thing thought he could shift and defeat my brother-in-law," Helios's voice dripped with mirth. The amusement radiating from him was almost palpable; a shimmering wave of mocking condescension. "Not on my watch, idiot!"
