Hoseok's jaw tightened, the muscles jumping rhythmically. If you were to ask Hoseok, who was now shooting daggers at Yunhee, he would tell you that this was one of those moments where he wished Wooshik could still turn into a snake so his venom could send this bitch to hell where she belongs.
"I think you're looking for the wrong brother, Yunhee. What would your husband think if he finds out that his beloved wife is chasing after his brother?" Hoseok scoffed, his voice laced with disdain.
Yunhee simply offered a practiced smile, but her eyes held a sharp, unsettling glint that didn't quite reach them. "I'm not here to pick a fight with you, Hoseok. I just want to talk to Jungkook."
Hoseok stepped forward, blocking the door. "He doesn't want to talk to you. He's busy."
"Busy doing what?" Yunhee asked, her voice dripping with impatience. She craned her neck, trying to peek behind Hoseok, nails digging into the strap of her bag. Hoseok held his ground, acting as a human barricade against her unwelcome intrusion. He wouldn't allow Yunhee to enter Jungkook and Taehyung's sanctuary, nor would allow her to ruin this beautiful day for the couple. With a sickening certainty, he knew exactly what type of conversation she wanted to have.
"Doing husband things with Taehyung, of course. I'm sure you can't relate since you're here trying to snatch someone else's. I wonder who decided to call it quits, because knowing you both, I don't expect your marriage to last. You and Kihyun are the most selfish and conceited pair in Obsidian," Hoseok said, his voice sharp and filled with venom. Each word landed like a slap in her face, fueled by years of simmering resentment. He couldn't stand Yunhee, couldn't forgive her for lying to Jungkook and stringing him along just because of the precious gifts he was showering her with.
Yunhee's smile faltered, her carefully crafted composure cracking ever so slightly. "That's none of your business, Hoseok. My marriage is between Kihyun and me," she said, straightening her shoulders in an attempt to regain her lost ground.
"Oh, but Jungkook is your business, isn't he? That's why you're here, isn't it?" Hoseok challenged, his voice low and dangerous. He watched her carefully, gauging her reaction. He knew he was hitting close to the mark.
"You wouldn't understand, Hoseok. Jungkook was my fated mate. I'm sure that after we talk, he'll leave Taehyung for me," Yunhee's voice held a note of unwavering certainty that contradicted the tremor in her hands. She truly believed it, trapped in a reality sculpted by her own desires.
"Oh, I understand plenty. And yes, he was -past tense because Jungkook is no longer your mate. You chose Kihyun over him. Jungkook is happy now with Taehyung," Hoseok countered, his voice low and mocking. He gestured dismissively. "Leave Taehyung for you, please. Is Delusional your middle name?" He rolled his eyes, the gesture filled with disdain. He knew how deeply Jungkook loves Taehyung. He'd seen it, felt the warmth of their connection.
Yunhee's eyes narrowed. "You don't know what you're talking about. Jungkook was forced to be with Taehyung. He doesn't love him. It's just... an arranged marriage."
"Forced?" Hoseok's laughter echoed sharply, tinged with incredulity and frustration as he shook his head. "You think watching them, the way they look at each other, the way they protect each other, is 'forced'? You are blind or at least pretending to be to feed your delusions, Yunhee." He stepped closer, invading her personal space. "You sacrificed your fated bond for power, for ambition, for a marriage that's clearly imploding. Now you're here, driven by regret and jealousy, trying to claw back what you threw away."
He saw the flicker of doubt in her eyes, the brief moment of truth peeking through the carefully constructed lies she told herself. He pressed on, relentless.
