Miyuki's POV
The next morning, Tanjiro focused on his breathing while sitting outside the lodge. He sniffed the air, taking in the fresh mountain scents.
"I'm so hungry," I sighed, leaning against the wooden railing next to him. He chuckled nervously. "Let's go eat a lot," he suggested, rubbing his stomach with an enthusiastic grin.
We headed back inside the lodge, where breakfast awaited us.
"Wow! You're starting me off with a feast this morning!" Tanjirou's eyes widened as he sat down at the table and I dig into the spread before him.
"These wild vegetables were all picked on the mountainside here," the Swordsmith explained, gesturing proudly to the dishes. "And the fish was caught fresh from the river this morning."
"Impressive," I said, savoring a bite of grilled fish. "Everything tastes amazing."
After filling our stomachs, I stood up and stretched. "Let's go treasure hunting!" I cheered, feeling energetic and ready for the day.
Later that morning, we wandered through the woods, searching for the hidden weapon he'd heard about.
As he moved deeper into the forest, he stumbled upon an argument between a young swordsmith and Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokitou.
"Should we go?" Tanjiro hesitated, watching the quarrel unfold. He noticed a mysterious Demon Slayer standing alongside the squabbling figures—the same man from his dream.
"Quit pestering me! Give it a rest!" the swordsmith barked, clearly frustrated. "I've had enough of you holding out on me," Tokitou said coldly. "You're wasting my time arguing with me."
Tanjiro scratched his head, puzzled by the commotion. "What's going on? Are they fighting about something?" he asked, glancing at me for guidance.
"Beats me." I shrugged, equally perplexed.
"What should we do? It'd be rude to eavesdrop," Tanjiro mused, more to himself. "But if they are fighting, I should try to help, shouldn't I?"
Just then, the tension escalated. Tokitou chopped Kotetsu's neck, rendering him unconscious. This prompted an enraged response from me as I rushed forward to intervene.
"Muichiro! Gently," I said sternly, watching as he picked Kotetsu up by his collar. "He's out cold; there's no need to be aggressive."
Tokitou turned his gaze on me, his expression blank but curious. "You—" He started, his eyes narrowing slightly.
I grabbed his wrist firmly, meeting his gaze. "Miyuki-Sama," he acknowledged, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"Yes, I'm glad you remembered," I replied gleefully, knowing he often forgot things. "Your red hair is difficult to forget, huh?"
"Indeed," I nodded amused.
Tanjiro, not one to stand by idly, sprinted up to Tokitou and Kotetsu. "What're you doing?! Let him go!" he demanded, his protective instincts kicking in.
"There's no need to be so noisy. Who are you?" Tokito, unimpressed, glanced at Tanjiro.
I quickly interjected, introducing Tanjiro. "This is my brother," I explained, holding Tanjirou's shoulder reassuringly.
"How could you treat a kid like that?! You should— Ngh!!" Tanjiro's protest was cut short as Tokitou elbowed him in the stomach.
"Gah!" Tanjirou gasped, doubling over. He was surprised at being easily overpowered by the younger, smaller, and thinner demon slayer.
