Miyuki's POV
A few moments later, a slash at the demon's flesh reverberated through the whole train, followed by Enmu's agonizing scream.
His body completely disintegrated, and the train began to derail from the tracks, throwing me and the others off balance.
Rengoku quickly pulled me into his arms, shielding me as the train rolled over the tracks. "Ugh—are you all right?" Rengoku asked as the train finally came to a stop.
I groaned, holding my bleeding head. "I'm fine," I assured him, but then panic set in. "Nezuko! The boys!" I grabbed my sword and rushed out of the wrecked train.
I saw Nezuko lying in Zenitsu's arms, and I let out a sigh of relief.
Further ahead, Inosuke was pulling passengers off the tracks. "Tanjiro!" I called out, spotting him in the distance. He was breathing heavily, looking up at the sky.
"Tanjiro~~" I rushed to him, Rengoku following close behind. I pulled Tanjiro onto my lap, cradling him gently. "You did so well," I said, kissing his temple.
Rengoku looked down on him and praised, "I see you've mastered Total Concentration, Constant. Impressive!"
"Rengoku-san..." Tanjiro groaned, struggling to sit up.
"After all, Constant is the first step toward becoming a Hashira. Although, there might be 10,000 steps before you can become a Hashira," Rengoku said with a reassuring smile. "But it is the first step, Tanjiro."
"I'll do my best," Tanjiro replied determined.
Rengoku's expression grew serious. "You're bleeding from your abdomen. You have to concentrate harder and improve the precision of your breathing."
He instructed Tanjiro to concentrate his breathing further to find his torn nerve and staunch the bleeding with his own mind. "Make your nerves reach every corner of your body."
Tanjiro nodded and focused, his breaths becoming steadier. After a short struggle, he managed to stop the bleeding.
"Great! Looks like you stopped it," Rengoku praised him for his perseverance.
"The others!" Tanjiro gasped, sitting up suddenly. "Everyone's safe! There are hordes of injured people, but no one's life is in danger," I assured him.
"Don't strain yourself. Take it easy and rest up," Rengoku advised. "Thank you very much," Tanjiro replied, his voice filled with relief.
Suddenly, the atmosphere grew heavy. "Ah... So the news of the Master's lover really is true," A woman spoke, me and Rengoku sheathed our swords sensing a presence nearby.
Two demons appeared to face us—an Upper Rank Three and Four. Rengoku turned toward them, and I got up while Tanjiro strained to see them.
"Her? My competition?" said the female demon, and I gulped. Near the wreckage of the Mugen Train, the demons appeared. "Upper... Three? And Four?! What are they doing here right now?"
Akaza launched himself forward and prepared to hit Tanjiro.
"Tanjiro!" I shouted, but the female demon attacked me, about to lick my blood. I pushed her back with the sheath of my sword, throwing it at her. "Worry about yourself!" She scorned.
"Flame Breathing, Second Form!" I sliced through the female demon's arm.
"You copied mine," Rengoku said as he cut off the other demon's arm. Both of them jumped back and regenerated their limbs.
"Thanks," I said, taking Rengoku's kerchief and holding it to my head.
"You smell as divine as you look," The man remarked, making me shiver. "That's a fine sword," the female demon said, scornfully adding, "But do they have the ability to wield it worthily?"
