Miyuki's POV
Post-Training Onsen Break
The sun had begun to dip, casting a warm golden glow over the training grounds. Tanjiro and the trainees stood at the edge of the onsen, staring apprehensively at the steaming water.
The onsen's heat promised both relaxation and a sharp reminder of their day's efforts. "Wow, I hate this," Tanjiro mumbled, biting his lip as he eyed the bubbling water.
"You mean you don't love getting into boiling water with open cuts and bruises?" I teased, a robe around myself as I stood by the entrance, contemplating whether or not to join them.
"This is going to make our cuts sting, right?" one of the trainees grimaced, glancing at his fellow slayers who nodded in mutual dread.
"Yeah, but it'll be worth it," Tanjiro said, attempting to muster up some courage.
"Are you sure you won't join us, Nee-San?" Tanjiro turned to me with a hopeful smile, and I shook my head, holding up a basket filled with herbs and rice water.
"You guys go ahead first. I need to wash my hair," I replied, waving them off. "Besides, it's a great bonding moment for you all."
"You're going to miss out on a lot of complaining and screaming, you know," Tanjiro laughed, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh, don't worry. I can hear you all from here," I smirked walked out.
Taking a collective breath, the group of Demon Slayers braced themselves and jumped into the onsen simultaneously, the water swallowing them whole with a loud splash.
"Gahhh!! AAaaaAAhhhhh~~"
A chorus of voices erupted as they sank into the hot water, their exclamations echoing through the surrounding trees.
"Hot! Hot! Hot!" Tanjiro exclaimed, wincing as he felt the water sear his skin. "But... also kind of nice?"
One of the trainees, Yuki, gave Tanjiro a disbelieving look. "Are you a masochist or something, Tanjiro?"
"No, I swear! It really does feel nice after a while!" Tanjiro insisted, a pained grin spreading across his face as he began to relax into the soothing warmth.
The others followed suit, their initial agony giving way to a sense of relief as the onsen worked its magic on their tired muscles.
Meanwhile, I had settled myself on a small stool near the well, surrounded by an assortment of dried herbs and a wooden bucket filled with rice water.
The evening air was cool and comforting, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves of the nearby trees. "Let's see if this concoction actually works," I muttered, pouring the mixture over my hair.
I began scrubbing vigorously, but it quickly turned into a wrestling match between my hands and the sticky, tangled mess my hair had become.
"Ugh, it's like I'm trying to wash a bird's nest," I groaned, attempting to spread the mixture evenly but only succeeding in creating a stubborn, foamy disaster.
With each stroke, my arms grew weary from the effort, and my frustration mounted. "I swear if I cut it all off, it'd be less of a headache," I muttered to myself.
As I continued my battle against the stubborn mess, my reflection in the water caught my eye—a wild, untamed tangle of hair framed my face, the foamy mixture clinging desperately to it.
"I hope I was a boy sometimes," I sighed, shaking my head as I tried to imagine a life without the hassle of long hair.
Just as I was considering calling it quits and hacking it all off, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching.
