Alerix Pov

“ What the heck? Why did you do that, Zed? What were you trying to accomplish by kidnapping her in the middle of the night?” Rey’s voice booms in the deadly silent living room.

I can't believe my own brother pulled such an act. I thought I had enemies out there and that I would never have to worry about fighting with my own blood. Today, I'm proven wrong.

I look at the little fairy bundled in blankets in Eli’s arms, sleeping peacefully. It took an hour to convince her that nobody was taking her away from us. And Zed is only to blame. He nearly gave her a panic attack.

I want to punch him again, but Ronan is holding me back. He has become the voice of reason for all of us right now when I clearly want to do just the opposite.

“ You guys did not give me any choice. You were not letting me do anything for her. Whenever I tried to be around her, you guys joined or took her away from me.”

“ That's because of your own stupidity, Zed. Don't blame us for what you caused. You deserve every bit of it.” Rey’s voice is almost close to shouting. He is trying to control his anger for the sake of our princess, who is still in deep slumber.

I want to hold her in my arms and kiss her slightly parted mouth. I could have lost her today. Again. What kind of guardian am I if I can't take care of one innocent soul properly?

“ I admit what I did was wrong. But how can I redeem myself if you don't allow me near her?”

“ You just showed us how you were trying to redeem yourself. Where were you trying to take her away, by the way?” Ronan asks, angry.

“ I wasn't taking her away from you guys. I just wanted her for myself for a few days to prove to her how sorry I was. I wanted to ask for another chance, but you guys ruined it all.”

“ Ruined?” My voice is deadly quiet. But I know Zed can sense the depth of my rage in it.

“ Brother, I know she can't stay without you longer. That's why I planned my trip shorter. You would have never agreed if I asked you. You know that.” He says carefully.

“ And was I wrong in my predictions? You just added one more sin to your list, Zed. Tomorrow we will discuss this with you in more detail. It's too late right now.”

I can feel Rey’s glare, but ignore it. My baby is stirring in her sleep, clearly bothered by the noises in the room. I would have suggested letting her sleep in her room. But not after what happened today.

Now I'm not letting her sleep alone ever again. She stays where she belongs. Beside me.

“ Eli, give her to me. I will sleep with her from now on.” Rey decides.

“ I don't want to leave her alone either.” Eli replies.

Looks like we all are going to share one room with her. Getting her to her bed, we let her snuggle in blankets. I take the chair since Eli and Rey are in bed with her.

“ Her wrist is bruised.” Rey points out, annoyance clear in his tone.

I bring the ointment from my room and hand it over to Rey, who applies it gently on her skin. It's funny to see him being so gentle with someone when all I have seen him in his beast mode.

Eli was right. She really knows the way to change people. She whimpers in between but doesn't awake.

“ You know, I have been thinking about Zed.” Eli starts.
