Chapter 67

I huff in annoyance at Neri's amusement. I know she is laughing behind her hand, but I don't have the energy to deal with her right now. Hadn't I been sitting on the kitchen counter, I would have stomped my foot in annoyance. 

I'm mad. 

Really, really mad.

The reason behind my annoyance is the brothers. They are not taking me seriously these days. I have been trying to raise my concerns in a civilized manner, but they are way too busy to get the clues.

And today, they have crossed the line that I feared the most. I groan loudly in impatience. 

“ Neri! Tell me why she is here today? I know you know what's happening here. Please tell me.”

“ I already told you, Madam. I have no idea why she is here. Master has ordered everyone to stay away from the back garden. So, I'm sorry I didn’t bear anything from them.”

“ That's not fair.” I mumble under my breath.

Since the last few days, the brothers have been really busy. I tried to talk to make a few plans with them, to spend more time but so far we are nowhere near. 

Hadn't I known the brothers, I would have screamed ‘red flag, red flag’ in high alert. But the thing is, even though they are busy, they have made sure that I'm well cared for.

Until the red flag walked herself into our castle with her mother Malia. Why is she here, by the way? And most importantly, why is Daddy talking with her alone in the garden.

I swing my leg back and forth in irritation. I wasn't expecting my morning to go like this. I wanted to get up with Daddy’s cuddling, Eli's kisses, Rey’s huge hugs. 

Never have I ever dreamed about waking up with Shafira in the house. The moment I saw her, my mood and morning were ruined.

“ Neri, when will she go back? I want to meet Daddy.” I whine loudly, making Neri turn toward me with a frown.

“ Then who is stopping you? Go ahead and meet him.” She turned back to her task after saying that.

“ I can't. You said so yourself that Daddy has ordered everyone to stay away from the gardens.”

“ I did. But since when did his orders start to apply over you?

Okay?

Why didn't I think of this before? I have been waiting here for two hours and now Neri thought to give me her advice. 

“ Neri! Why didn't you tell me this before?” With a huge pout, I jumped from the counter. Stomping my feet on the floor, I reached the garden.

Without thinking twice about my attire, I went for Daddy. His arms were already open for me to go in. I settled between his legs, half laying on his chest, I sighed in relief.

“ What's with the pout, sweetheart?” He asked, kissing the top of my head and inhaling my scent from my neck.

Yes, listen carefully to him, Shafira. I'm his sweetheart. Only me.

Am I jealous?

YES. 

VERY.

“ Is it her? Oh my. Can I see her, please? She looks so tiny and cute.” 

What? What is wrong with this woman?

We were enemies. Weren't we? Since when did enemies start to call each other cute? What is exactly happening on this planet?

“ Yes. She is my little fairy.” Daddy said, nuzzling his nose with mine lovingly.

“ Sir Alerix, can we see her? Please. Only if you don't mind it.” Malia requested.

I will mind it.

“ Princess, come on. Say hello.” 

How about no? I whined loudly when he started to tickle my sides to make me pull my face out of his chest.

“ I guess she is not in the mood right now.” Daddy explained. There was a hint of annoyance in his tone, which was followed by a spank on my butt. Nothing hard, just a little warning to behave.

Daddy is mad. I'm mad. Perfect combination. 

“ Why is she here?” I ask in his ear.

“ Work, baby.” 

“ Why work in the garden, not in the office?”

“ Just because.”

“ I don't like her.” I admit in a whisper.

“ But I kinda like you.” Shafira says, surprising me. How the heck did she hear that? Is she using some supernatural device that I'm not aware of? I need to be careful around her.

“ Hey, aren't you gonna turn around and let me see your pretty face?” 

No. 

I looked at Daddy in the eye and silently communicated my dislike about the whole scenario. Sighing, he changed the topic after that.

“ We need to be careful. You don't know my father. All he wants is power and profits.” Shafira warns.

“ I still don't understand why you and your mother are going against him.” Daddy asks.

“ Because it's the right thing to do, Sir Alerix. My elder son made the same mistake, and now my husband is following in his footsteps. These men think controlling masses will make them feel powerful. They can't be more delusional. We need to stop them. My family has already suffered the disgrace, I don't want it to repeat for my next generation.” Malia explains.

Daddy hums and looks deep in thought when Eli joins us on the table.

“ Good morning, ladies. Breakfast is ready. If you want to join us.” 

Before they can reply, Daddy chimes in.

“ They were just leaving Elijah. I will ask my guards to guide you toward the castle door. Thank you for stopping by.”

“ You don't trust us.” Shafira concludes.

“ I don't trust anyone. Given your family's reputation, I need to take appropriate precautions.” Daddy shrugs nonchalantly. 

“ But you trust her when you don't even know where she comes from.” Malia argues. 

“ Mother!” 

“ What? It's true. What if she…..”

“ Out.” Daddy orders calmly, making Malia snap her mouth shut immediately. She realizes her mistake a little late because Daddy gets up from the table with me in his arms.

“ I'm sorry, sir. I wasn't thinking…..”

“ You need to leave.” Eli tells them politely to which they both nod.

“ Sir Alerix, please don't let this mistake of my mother make you back away from our plan. Please, I beg you. Thousands of lives are at stake. We need to act fast. We need the antidote for that illness that's spreading. Please think before you decide.” I can clearly hear the desperation in her voice.

Daddy nods slightly and then moves us inside the castle.

“ You're still wearing your nightgown.” Daddy points out.

“ I am.”

“ Let's give you a bath first then.” He says, then adds. “ Only you.” I giggle at his statement. Daddy is worried that I will seduce him again, which he is not wrong about. I have made a long list of ways to seduce him.

“ You can't resist me longer, Daddy.” I tease. He spanks my butt again in warning, but I don't miss the slight twitch of his lips. He is enjoying this as much as me.

We are definitely playing today.
