Their Princess

Chapter 61

“ Are you feeling better now?” I nod, sipping my tea with Daddy’s help.

After some hours of sleep and this herbal tea, I'm honestly feeling way better than before. The party is still in full swing. I can hear music coming from afar, but it no longer bothers me.

But something is wrong. I can clearly see it on the brothers faces and feel it in the air. 

“ What's wrong?” 

“ Nothing much. It's just Kai and his stupid ideas. Don't worry, princess. We will take care of everything.” Eli says. 

I know there's more to it, but don't ask more. Honestly, I don't need to. Because Rufus is charging in our room.

“ Stop there!” Daddy orders without turning his head from me.

“ We need to talk.” Why can't this family live without drama? The angry look on Rufus's face reminds me of the tele drama my mom used to watch. 

Overacting. 

“ Outside. It's her room. You can't enter.” 

I see Rufus gritting his teeth in anger. He is in typical father mode right now who wants to teach his rebel kids to follow his orders. But the father has forgotten that his sons are grown men now.

I look at Eli, Rey, and Daddy, imagining what they looked like as teenagers. Were they playful? Did they flirt? What would have happened if I met them in their teenage years? Would they have still liked me?

“ Alerix, it's serious. We need to talk now.” 

Someone clears his throat behind Rufus.

“ Umm… hey, I was just dropping these in her room. Do you mind if I enter?” Kai asks.

“ Yes, I will mind.” I giggle at Rey’s reply, who gives me a charming smile in return.

“ It's your house, Kai. Never mind who I am even talking to right now ……. I feel like I'm raising teenagers again. You guys have forgotten your purpose, responsibilities, and sense of self……” 

Daddy gets up before his father can continue and strides outside, followed by Rufus.

“ What's happening, Rey Rey? Is your father mad with me? I didn't do anything, I swear.”

Rey joins me on my temporary bed and starts to massage my shoulders. “ He is just mad at himself, baby. People go mad when things don't go like they want them to be. He is facing that period. For someone who got whatever he wanted for his entire life, it must be hard on him now that he is not getting it the way he wants. Don't pay him any mind. We will take care of everything.”

I have no doubt about it. 

“ Hey, you didn't tell me where to keep these?” I completely forgot he was still standing outside our door.

“ What is it?” 

“ Gifts for Princess.” 

Eli turns to ask me, but I close my eyes immediately to avoid his question. Rey’s chest, where I'm laying, vibrates with laughter. 

“ Can you…. Umm…. Put these somewhere else?”

I hear Kai retreat after that. 

I didn't see him until the next day and how I wished I never got to see him ever again.

I was sitting with Eli and Ronan on the porch when he came with Leya and another woman. 

When did she come? This woman will appear anywhere where I'm concerned. I bet today she has found something much more entertaining than the last event.

Kai looks down at me with a huge grin on his face. I don't like it even for a second. Seriously, he has started to give me psycho vibes now. If I ever complimented him on his looks, I take it back.

Because it's an illusion. Illusion to fool people.

“ How may I help you?” Eli asks, sitting beside me.

“ You are forgetting your duties as a guardian, brother, and I am here to remind you of that. Again.” Kai says smugly.

He is an idiot too.

“ What do you mean?”

“ Firstly, you forgot her birthday. Then you didn't celebrate it like she doesn't matter to you. I mean, if you claim to care for her this much, then shouldn't you celebrate her special day at least in some way? Your love for her…. it's all a drama.”

Eli gets up from his chair, making Kai step back immediately. 

“ And you…. You guys also forgot to follow the rituals. How could you do that to her? If you can't take care of her properly, then give her to me. I will definitely do a better……” 

Before he could finish, Eli had him pinned to the wall, making the two women gasp and step back in fear.

Kai is definitely getting braver day by day. I don't want him thinking the brothers are keeping me from him. Because it's quite the opposite. 

Eli is whispering something in his ear, and the ghostly look on Kai's face clearly indicates that it's nothing pleasant.

The woman clears her throat to gain attention when Eli throws Kai away. 

“ I'm getting late. I have other work, too. I came as fast as you asked me to, Leya. But now I have other duties to perform. Please hurry her up.”

Leya shifts uncomfortably in her place but says nothing. 

When she doesn't say anything, the other woman turns to me. “ Come inside. Other women are waiting there for you. We will do the ceremony in front of them.”

It took me a minute to remember what ceremony she was talking about. And without any delay, I jumped in Eli’s arms where no one would dare come near me.

I'm never coming here ever again.
