Alerix Pov

Walking home with my baby in my arms would have been a peaceful experience, only if my father wasn't there waiting for us. It wasn't hard to predict that he wanted to talk business instead of waiting for the morning.

As I moved inside, he opened his mouth to blurt out whatever he planned. But I stopped him with one of my own glares. I wasn't in the mood to have any conversation with him right now.

On his side, Kai was standing, ogling my girl with utter desire. Sometimes, I feel pity for him, and on other occasions, I want to bury him alive. He doesn't know a thing about loving someone. All his care was coming from a place of desire instead of love and care.

My princess deserves someone who treasures her, not control. I knew very well where Kai was standing in that aspect. Ignoring them, I carried her upstairs to her room, where I held Eli in charge since I needed Rey in the basement with me.

“ Hey, sweetheart. Do you need anything?” I asked when she started to stir awake, in a soft voice that was only reserved for her.

“ Hungry.”

Thankfully, I have learned early what her single answers meant. She wasn't in the mood to talk but wanted to feel extra loved and cared for. Her grumpiness was a sign that she needed time to get ready to face the world. Her healer told me it was her way of transitioning from one phase to another.

Sighing, I rubbed her back and decided to take her downstairs where I could cook something for her while Eli and Rey showered.

As expected, my father was there, deep in conversation with Uncle Roman. Kai got up as soon as he saw me coming downstairs.

“ Is she alright?”

I made sure to keep my girl’s face away from him. Ignoring the moron, I turned the corner to the kitchen where Neri was still cooking.

“ Why are you still here, Neri?”

“ I heard that you were coming, Sir, so I decided to stay and cook a meal. And I think I made the right decision.” She says, looking at my girl who was eagerly sucking on my neck.

“ Thank you. She was getting hungry.”

“ I will set the plates.”

Eli and Rey join us soon after. Gulping down everything in a single breath while my baby took her sweet time chewing and in opening her mouth.

“ Princess, can I join you in bed tonight?” Eli politely asks.

Given the pace of our relationship growing with her, we have given her the reins to decide who she wants to spend her time with.

We didn't want to make her feel that she was merely a source of entertainment for us and was being tossed around when satisfied. When she actually meant the world to us.

With a single nod, Eli picks her up, ready to get in bed with her. I was kind of jealous, but I need to be somewhere else right now. Rey and I kissed her good night and headed downstairs.

“ I don't want them to see tomorrow.” Rey growls beside me. And I can't agree more with him.

“ What's going on? Who are these people? Alerix? Are these civilians?” Father asks, coming from behind us.

“ They were planning to kill someone who was under our protection. I don't think that falls under the category of civilized, Father.”

Even thinking about what the couple was trying to do makes my blood boil in fury. Hadn't it been the other group overhearing their plan, I don't know what could have happened.

I could have lost my girl. The only person that mattered to me.

“ What did they do?” Father growls. One thing that my father dislikes the most is when people try to take what is ours. Guess we had that in common.

Still, I can't understand why he let Mother go with someone else.

“ Trying to poison the food. But caught by another group.” Rey replies.

They volunteered to serve the food in the morning so that their plan could go smoothly until someone caught them with a poisonous herb. I'm planning on rewarding those people. But right now, these sick morons are my prime focus. After getting caught, the crowd was on them, which led to the commotion in the hallway.

We had to separate the groups to investigate the cause. Turned out they were planning on poisoning my girl. My girl.

“ Sir, Rufus. Please forgive us. We were just doing what was needed. That girl isn't pure warrior blood. So, we thought……”

“ Thought what? Huh? We are warrior blood and have served our people from generations selflessly. Who are you to come now and preach my sons what they can and can not have? Haven't we given enough?” My father's voice booms in the basement.

Their head falls in shame at my father's words. My father loves to order us around, but when that order comes from another, he doesn't take it lightly.

We are born to lead, not ordered around. His words.

“ Rey, begin.” With my nod, Rey begins the slow torture, I move to the next cell where Daedra lays unconscious.

“ What did she do?”

I shrug. “ was getting on my nerves.”

Father shakes his head in disgust. He is not a big fan of women unless they are serving him. Another reason why my mother left him.

“ What's going on with Dacotah? Heard, Ronan was investigating him?”

“ You heard right.”

Sighing, he turns to me. “ Alerix, I need to know what's happening so I can help you and protect my family from any oncoming danger.”

What he actually wanted to say was - protect my family's name.

“ All is under control, father. You can sleep now.”

I checked my tab for information on Fawx and her daughter. Fawx has been sentenced for treachery and spying. Thus, was sent to prison and her daughter was sent away to the child discipline center.

Coming back to Daedra, she was the mastermind, joined hands with Dacotah, and conspired against us. Thus, we have full rights to decide her fate.

Screams of agony fill the room as Rey starts with his handiwork. I wonder when Dacotah will arrive, I'm feeling way too creative today. When he comes, I'm definitely trying some new tricks on him.
