Before Neri can sense my change of mood, I school my expressions. “ That's fine. Can I eat something now? I'm hungry.” 

“ Of course, Madam. Go take your seat, I will serve you there.”

“ Come back from where, princess?” I hear Daddy ask from the stairs.

“ What do you mean, baby? I woke up, showered, and came downstairs for breakfast. Why do you look so confused?” He pecks the top of my head and picks me up from my seat to settle me down on his lap.

“ I thought you were having breakfast with your family.”

“ Well…. I was supposed to. But I'm not a big fan of family dinners. They are always filled with chatter and weird noises. Besides, a room full of your relatives is much more feral and dangerous than a band of wild animals.”

I giggle at his analogy. But I kinda agree. I had a fair share of experiences with my relatives, so I know what he is talking about.

“ What about Eli and Rey?”

“ What about them?”

“ Where are they?”

“ I knocked on Rey’s door. He said he had to shower first because someone was feeling naughty today.” I blush and hide my face in his neck. “ I know you're eager, love. Daddy gets up from the table but doesn't approach her. He continues to stare at her blankly while the woman weeps silently. It's Eli who breaks the silence, which was stretching beyond my comfort. 

“ Baby, let's go upstairs and have breakfast on the terrace.”

“ Okay.” Breakfast on the terrace sounds good to me, but I'm worried about Daddy. I squeeze his hand and press my lips on his chest, giving him my strength. 

“ I'm here for you, Daddy.” His focus shifts to me, and he gives me a warm smile. 

“ I know, love. I know.” With a kiss on my forehead, I'm guided by Eli upstairs. On our way, we meet Rey.

“ Hey, I wanted to have breakfast with her. Where are you taking her?”

“ Terrace. Mother is here, by the way.”

Rey stills for a second, then nods, sighing. “ Let's get this over with then…... I will be back, princess.”

He kisses my cheek and heads downstairs. 

“ What's going to happen now, Eli?”

“ Now? Now everything falls into place, baby.” He says with a big smile on his face, which eases all my anxiety and settles me with warmth and security.
