Their Princess

Chapter 49

“ Princess. Open the door. Talk to me. Tell me what happened. Did anyone say something?” Daddy has been pounding at my door for the last four hours, and the only way he knows I'm still here is because of my constant sniffing and sobbing.

Yes, my dam broke again. I couldn't help myself and release all those tears even after feeling numb for so long.

Eli was the first to suspect that something was up when he couldn't find me. Poor guy played hide and seek alone while I was waking up from my dream. 

“ Princess, at least tell me the names. We can save time this way instead of finding them ourselves.” I don't know why Rey thinks that he can protect me from everything when I'm my own enemy here.

I'm the one thinking these thoughts and feeling these emotions. But I don't want to blame myself either. It's daddy, who I'm angry with. He promised to come soon. 

Choking on my own saliva, I start to cough badly. While I'm trying to catch my breath, a hand picks me up in his arms and starts to pat my back.

How did he get inside?

“ Here. Drink this.” As I gulp down the glass of water, I notice a headache coming. I mentally groan. Not right now, please. Give the girl some head start to mentally prepare, at least. 

It doesn't get unobserved by me that I'm in the arms of the same man I'm angry with. But no matter what I do, I can't bring myself out of his embrace. Why does his masculine earthy scent attract me this much?

“ You okay now, Princess?”

I meekly nod at Eli while Daddy and Rey’s eyes are fixed on my stuffie. It's like a flip of switch when Daddy realizes what has happened. His eyes widen in horror at the realization. 

“ Baby?” He whispers.

I whisper back “ You didn't come.” 

I didn't have the courage to look him in the eye, so I'm not sure what his expression was, but his whole body tensed with my comment. 

Eli was the first to break the intense silence, and I couldn't be more grateful. “ We’re sorry, princess. We never stopped looking for you. Not even for a single second. We should've done better. I know that. But don't think that we weren't coming.”

Gaining the courage, I look up in Alerix’s eye and see that same pained expression that I saw a few days back. He sits me down on the bed beside him and cupped my cheeks.

“ I'm so sorry. Baby. I….I know there's no excuse for what I did or what I let happen. I'm ready to be punished in any way you want. But please baby, don't think that we weren't coming for you. You are way too important for us to lose.”

“ But you found her first. You said you would come early but you didn't.” I sniff , rying to make him understand what I was hurt about.

I didn't care when he found me because I'm mad at him for the fact that he found Leya first. That sounds stupid? Well, try living under a hole for a few days and then come out only to find that your man found the girl you hated the most first.

At this moment, I wasn't a little. I was an insecure woman who was raging with jealousy and hurt. Two very bad combinations to start a new recipe. 

But my Daddy saw right through me. He understood what I was trying to say and pulled me in his lap. 

“ That's not true, baby. I was never looking for her. She was just there when we were looking for you. It was one of the many bases of rebel groups that we were raiding. She was never in our list of priorities.”
