"You can sit"
Looking at the awkwardness flooding in the living room due to the man who had been standing in the corner of the room, L voiced out loud. "I know" Beneath a tight frown, Finn rushed to the couch to settle down while the woman shook her head. "Listen attentively"
Sitting beside him on the couch, she called the caller id namely 'bald eagle'. Strangely, the call was rejected on first try. Hushing down the entire room. Even L was taken aback a bit. That bald eagle must be terrified to talk to her after stabbing her back. "Call him"
Finn ordered, determined to know the truth behind the incident. "I am trying to call him but he is the one who keeps declining my calls" L shrugged it off. What else did he expect her to do when it was the other party that's unwilling? "Do something to get him on phone"
Of course, Finn insisted. He could not walk out and believe whatever this woman claimed when the evidence was missing. "Such a nuisance" A sigh crawled up between the woman's lips as she frowned. "Can you get the phone number of that company's secretary?"
L suggested to change the method.
"Just wait a moment" The man did not even hesitate. After running a background check on Lilith Arnold, he secured a lot of information including the phone numbers of her companions. That was basically stalking but he did not view it that way. He called it prevention.
A protective layer he laid in case things turned out to be bad. Quietly, L observed the man who was going through his phone. He seemed naïve now that she got to speak with him properly. He relied on his temper a lot. "If your accusations are false, will you apologize in tears?"
A small smile crept up on L's lips as Finn turned his head. His widened eyes embraced disbelief. In tears? What is she? A sadist?! "I can't believe Caleb likes a freak like you. Just wait until I handcuff you and push you behind bars once I find out the lies you have told"
Due to the shock, Finn ended up babbling in frustrated tone. L's right brow arched. "Handcuff? Are you into it?" Her question dragged the man into silence of disbelief. His jaw clenched. He began to breathe heavily while the woman relished the sight. "Lost words to say?"
She tilted her head.
"Shut the hell up! Here, just call the secretary and prove yourself instead of saying shit" Scowling, Finn handed his phone. His flustered reaction somehow tickled L. "Alright" She contacted the secretary, and surprisingly, the call was answered on the first ring.
"Yes?!" "Miss Quinn?" As Lilith's voice rang, the woman from the other side of phone quieted down instantly. Finn's curious eyes rested upon the woman beside him. Why was it silent? If Lilith was the culprit, shouldn't that woman be thanking her with a friendly tone?
"Oh, come on. Please don't give me silent treatment. I am sure we have had coffee together a few times. Aren't we close enough to call each other?" Leaning back, L continued. It was when Quinn responded; "Sorry, I was just surprised to receive a call after a long time"
Now, Finn fell into the pool of perplexity. After a long time? Did that mean Lilith Arnold was never behind the incident? Did he accuse her falsely? But if not her, who else would? "You know, I found some interesting news online. It tells about a man who works as autho-"
"Lilith, we didn't mean to drag you into this"
A sigh echoed through the call. It was the moment L's gaze swayed. But Finn had lowered his eyes to avoid the eye contact. He fidgeted, considering other possibilities for discovering the truth. "My boyfriend is at disadvantage, now thanks to you all" L made a taunt.
