A man rang the doorbell outside.

Awakening L who was wandering in her dreamland. Her brows twitched, teeth gritting in frustration. In order to achieve the perfect look of a terminally ill patient, she skipped three meals without any care. She sacrificed her hunger for the money and forced herself to sleep.

After successfully convincing herself to sleep through the hunger, someone actually interrupted it. "Who the fuck dares to wake me up?!" Upset, L headed out with the determination to yell at the person. Howbeit, the man happened to be a delivery man Caleb had sent.

"I am sorry for the sudden arrival. And I apologize if I disturbed you in any way! I am looking for Miss Lilith Arnold" Beneath a bright grin, the man explained. For seconds, L remained silent. Her eyes scanned the stranger from head to toes to assure nothing bad was occurring.

"I am Lilith Arnold" "Oh! Mr. Caleb Rowane had instructed us to deliver the painting. Can I enter? Or shall I put it here if you don't want me to step inside?" It was when L's brows rose. "Oh! No, you can come in!" She gladly stepped aside. She ain't carrying that alone!

"Ah, then, wait a moment please"

Smiling, the man rushed back to the car to get the painting out while L patiently waited. Her gaze swayed. And she promptly turned around when she realized. Caleb Rowane was here! She could recognize that car number plate even from a mile away! "What is he doing here?"

L tilted her head to hide her face from his view, attempting to play it cool when in fact she was swimming in the confusion pool. "Sorry for the wait" The delivery man returned. Attracting the woman's attention. "It's okay. Come in" The two headed inside the house.

"Are you all alone?" Out of the blue, L threw a query. Maybe Caleb came with this man but decided to stay outside. "Is there any problem with me being alone?" Blinking in perplexity, the man questioned back. It was when L shook her head in hurry. "No, of course not"

So, Caleb had nothing to do with this delivery man. "I thought you might find it difficult to hang that painting by yourself. Please don't take it in wrong way" She waved her hand. "It is fine. I have been doing this job for a few years. I have carried a fridge by myself even"

"Really? I don't have to worry then"

L returned a nod to show her satisfaction. "Are you dating Caleb Rowane? Is this a gift from him?" The silence conquered. No one uttered a word. The woman started to doubt the questions. "Why do you ask?" "I thought he were single" The man replied.

"Do you always ask people about their relationships or is it just me?" Wearing a sweet smile, L cut the topic off coldly. "OH! I am sorry for offending you" The man somehow broke a sweat as though he were worried about something. The woman also noticed it quickly.

Her intuition was disapproving this man's behavior. They both didn't say a word after. Once he finished placing the painting in the living room according to L's instructions, the man made his way out to the door while the woman followed. "Thanks for help" "You're welcome"

Even after being thanked, the man continued to stand at the door. Puzzling the woman entirely. Didn't Caleb pay this man? Was she supposed to pay? "Can I have some water please?" With teary eyes, the man suddenly approached. Making L take a step back in surprise.

Something is odd, she believed.

"Sure, wait here for a moment" L headed to the kitchen, getting a glass of water for the man. Her eyes swayed upon the knife block. Without a second thought, she seized a knife and hid it behind in the pants' pocket. The prevention is better than finding the cure.
