Around ten in the morning,

L headed out of the city alone. She did not go to Caleb, breaking her promise. It was only a part of her plan. She drove for two hours straight. 'Blessed future' orphanage. Only more than thirty children were present in the orphanage, due to the lack of food and clothing.

Not to mention the rural area. People rarely passed by as they failed to recognize the existence of this orphanage, leaving the children praying for food almost every day. L parked her car, grabbing her purse from the side. "Time to mess around" She muttered.

Wearing her pink tinted sunglasses, L went out of the car. "Welcome, how can I help you?" The director of the orphanage came out upon the unnotified arrival of a stranger. He was quick to notice her even from certain distance. All the dogs had a sensitive sense.

L took her sunglasses off.

She quietly observed the man from head to toes. Despite living in rural area, he seemed to be doing better than a lot of people. "I would like to make a donation" L flashed a smile. It was the moment a man's eyes gleamed. A grin tugged on his lips. Finally! A prosperous donor!

"Of course, you can. After me, please"

He gestured, sounding extremely excited to hear the word 'donation'. "Can I first look around?" Suddenly, the woman requested. "Sure! I can show you around!" The man did not mind at all. He began with the vast field where kids played often. "Kids love this place"

"But it is a shame we cannot afford to make a swing even. All they can do is fight for a single ball we possess" The man sighed. L never responded. She quietly observed the area. "It's been ages since we had a generous donor" The man continued the conversation.

"Oh, by the way, my name is Edgar Bury. I manage this orphanage with my wife. You can say I am the director here" Edgar let out a laughter. Causing the woman to frown. His humor was dry like a desert. "I am Lilith Arnold" L introduced herself briefly. "A beautiful name!"

The man, once again, laughed.

Putting the woman ill at ease.

"I wonder how you discovered this lowly place" Edgar's doubt attracted L's attention. "A friend of mine suggested me" She lied through her teeth. "Ah, is that so? It seems our prayers were answered. Children have been suffering a lot. With the increasing prices, ha..."

A sigh escaped between his lips. The woman smiled. What a great actor. "If I recall correctly, my friend said this place was funded by the Food and Drug Administration every month" Over the statement, Edgar's smile dropped. He blinked, and then smiled again.

"They are simply baseless rumors, Miss"

The man waved his hand. "How can the Food and Drug Administration know about this rural place? Children are abandoned by government even. I have been working in the city to fund my own orphanage while my wife and others take care of the kids" Edgar declared.

The woman nodded, slowly. "Seems like I have to support the children as much as I can" L remarked, eyes exploring the place whenever she got a chance. Even though the amount of children present was small compared to others, the orphanage was quite spacious and vast.

"Please step inside" Once they reached the office, Edgar opened the door.

"Thanks" They settled down across from each other. Two coffee cups were prepared in advance which stirred L's curiosity. "The orphanage is quite spacious but I did not see more than ten kids even" L's words sent chills down the man's spine. He managed a smile.

"They are probably asleep since it is naptime" "Ah" L nodded. A fucking liar. Edgar placed a file on the table surface; "There are several types of packages. For a month, ten thousand for clothes, and fifty thousand for food. Currently, we have more than a hundred children"
