BEAUTIFUL >( we could've been. and we try to pretend every now and again. )
THE FIVE GIRLS HAD BEEN RESTING in the comfort of their hotel rooms. ada fortunately being placed in her own room enjoyed the quiet company.
especially after the long drive stuck between paige. she didn't say much to the girl besides telling her the food she wanted. preferring the peacefulness of sleep than to be awkwardly sitting in silence.
the tension between the two was noticeable to everyone. mostly because ada refused to be anywhere near paige unless she absolutely had to. always at arm length and feet away from the basketball player. keeping herself at a respectable distance so that she could somehow ignore her presence.
its not that paige hadn't tried to talk to ada. she did. she really did. but before the words could even form on her tongue ada was gone.
now as ada lay under the covers of her bed, scrolling mindlessly on her phone she desperately tried to keep herself away from the thoughts of paige which still lingered in the back of her mind.
the sudden array of telephone rings had caught her out of the spiral she was inevitably descending down. in a slow huff the journalist reached towards the nightstand with tired eyes.
"hello?"
"are you on do not disturb again? i was trying to call you earlier." nika chuckled as she could practically hear ada grit her teeth.
"sorry... i'll turn it off now. what's up? you alright?" ada questioned, opening her phone to do as nika asked.
"i'm fine, but you needa get your ass over here. brittany is coming over soon to style us." ada smiled as she could hear the cheers of aaliyah and azzi in the background.
"alright, i'll come to your room in a sec." ada uttered a quick goodbye before swinging herself out of bed with a grumble.
and just when she thought the peace and quiet had returned her phone started ringing once more. already expectant to be nika nagging her she groaned begrudgingly.
"yess niks i'm coming over now." ada walked over towards the door slipping on her shoes as she kept her phone to her ear.
"sorry to disappoint you ada but it's me— kate." ada could only laugh, it only seemed fitting that kate would be the one to call her in her moments of distress. which seemed to be the setting of most of their calls as of recent.
"sorry—i'm still a bit tired for the drive." ada excused as she stopped tying her shoes and sat back. too focused on her current phone call to remember why she needed to rush in the first place.
"it's all good, just calling to check up...and to say i'm excited to finally meet the famous ada caddel in the flesh." kate was excited— actually excited was an understatement.
caitlin had been making fun of her friend endlessly for just how much she mentioned ada and the article. but at this point they all knew the article wasn't the main thing she was excited about.
