Alba's POV
You felt a thrill run down your spine at his words, your resolve wavering in the face of his intensity. But you weren't ready to give in just yet. "Is that a challenge?" you asked, trying to sound confident despite the butterflies in your stomach. Your heart skipped a beat at his words, but you forced yourself to remain calm. "You're cocky, you know that?" you said, trying to sound more confident than you felt.
He chuckled, clearly unperturbed by your comment. "Cocky, confident, whatever you want to call it. All I know is that I have a way of getting what I want." He leaned back slightly, taking another sip of his wine. "And right now, I want you."
"I thought you wanted to apologize?" you asked tilting your head a little.
Jungkook laughed, clearly amused by your question. "Can't a man have multiple reasons for wanting someone? I do want to apologize, yes. But I'd be lying if I said that was the only reason I wanted to see you tonight."
You raised an eyebrow, skeptical. "And what are these other reasons, pray tell?"
He leaned in closer again, his gaze darkening. "Is it so hard to believe that I'm attracted to you, sweetheart? That I find you irresistible?" He gently took your hand in his, his thumb making lazy circles on your skin. "You're smart, strong, beautiful, and you don't take any nonsense from me. It's a dangerous combination, you know that?"
You felt your heart beat faster at his words, but you tried to keep your cool as you moved your hand away. "I didn't realize being independent and strong-willed could be such a turn-on for you, what types of girls were you seeing back then?" you replied, trying to mock him.
Jungkook chuckled at your comment. "Ah, so now you're trying to get under my skin, are you?" He took another sip of his wine, his gaze never leaving yours. "As for the women I've been with before, let's just say I've had my fair share of...submissive, easy-going types."
His words sent a shiver down your spine. You quickly shook the feeling off, reminding yourself that you were not one of them. "And now you're looking for a change?" you asked, trying to keep your voice steady.
He shrugged, his smirk never leaving his lips. "Let's say you've caught my attention, sweetheart. You're different. You're a challenge. And I love a good challenge." He leaned even closer to you, his breath ghosting over your cheek. "And the best part is, I know you secretly enjoy this little game we're playing."
Your heart skipped a beat at his proximity, the heat of his breath against your skin making it hard to think straight. You tried to maintain your composure, but you couldn't deny his words. "That's where you're wrong," you retorted, trying to sound nonchalant. "If anything, I'm just tolerating your antics to humor you."
He laughed, clearly enjoying this back-and-forth. "Oh, sweetheart, you can't fool me. I see the way you react when I'm near you." There was something about the tension between you two that was undeniably exciting. "Your body betrays you. You can try to deny it all you want, but I know you feel it too." He said.
Your heart racing, but you tried to hide it by taking another sip of your wine. "You're arrogant, you know that?" you said, trying to keep your voice steady. "Just because you have a charming smile and an attractive body doesn't mean I'm automatically attracted to you."
He leaned back, a devilish gleam in his eyes. "Oh, sweetheart, you wound me." He pretended to be hurt by placing a hand over his heart. "So, you're saying you don't find me attractive at all? Not even a little bit?"
You couldn't help the smirk that tugged at the corner of your lips. "Well, I never said I didn't find you physically attractive. But that doesn't mean I'm ready to swoon at your feet like all the other women you've been with."
