Alba's POV
The door clicked shut behind you, the sound echoing in the dim hallway. You stood there for a moment, your heart still pounding from the intensity of the conversation with Jungkook. Your hand gripped the strap of your bag tightly as you forced yourself to take a deep breath.
Why did you feel so heavy? You'd come here to confront him, to get answers, and you'd gotten them. So why did it feel like there was a knot in your chest that wouldn't go away?
Jimin's face flashed in your mind, his smile, the way he made you feel safe and understood. It wasn't supposed to be this complicated. Jungkook had always been a puzzle, one you couldn't quite figure out, and you'd finally stopped trying. But hearing him lay everything out like that, his jealousy, his regrets, it made everything harder.
You shook your head, pushing the thoughts aside as you started walking down the hallway. Jungkook was in the past now. You had made your choice. Jimin was who you wanted to be with. He was steady, kind, and most importantly, he'd been there when you needed someone. You owed it to him to move forward without looking back. Right?
You stepped into the cab. The city was still and quiet. You glanced at your phone, seeing a missed text from Jimin.
Jimin: Hey princess, just checking in. How did things go with Jungkook?
You informed him before coming here. A small smile tugged at your lips. Even now, he was giving you space, understanding that this was something you needed to handle on your own.
As you exited the cab on the road, because you wanted to walk a little to clear your head. The sun was starting to rise, the familiar path to your apartment. The city had a way of calming your nerves. You couldn't let what happened tonight derail everything you'd built with Jimin. But as much as you tried to focus on the future, Jungkook's words lingered in your mind, his confession of jealousy, of regret.
You didn't doubt his sincerity, but it was too late. You couldn't let yourself get drawn back into that whirlwind of emotions. You had to keep moving forward. Jimin was good for you, stable in a way you desperately needed right now.
As you turned the corner onto your street, you spotted a figure leaning against the wall near the entrance to your building. Your heart skipped a beat when you recognized him. Jimin. His hands were stuffed into his jacket pockets, his face partially hidden by the shadow of his hood.
He straightened when he saw you, his expression softening. "Alba."
"Jimin." you replied, your voice sounding more relieved than you'd expected.
He pushed off the wall and walked towards you, concern etched on his face. "I wanted to be here when you got back. I didn't want you to be alone."
You felt a warmth spread through you at his words. "Thank you." you said, meaning it more than he probably realized.
You stood there for a moment, as he studied your face. "Are you okay?" he asked gently, his eyes searching yours..
You nodded, though you weren't entirely sure it was true. "Yeah, I think I am. It was... a lot, but I got the answers I needed."
Jimin reached out, taking your hand in his. His touch was steady, grounding you. "Do you want to talk about it?"
You hesitated, then shook your head. "Not now. I just want to be with you."
He pulled you into a hug, and you let yourself melt into his embrace, feeling the tension of the night slowly begin to fade. This was where you were supposed to be. With him.
