"What are you doing out here?" I inquired, gazing up at him.
"What does it look like?" he responded sharply, his demeanour puzzling.
"I've been waiting for you," he continued."Really?" I pressed, but Adhrit simply turned and began walking ahead without another word.
When I hesitated, he glanced back, pausing until I caught up and walked alongside him.
"So, did you speak to Yuvraj?" he questioned; I looked at him, shocked.
How did he know, I was out with Yuvraj?
I nodded, answering his question.
"Are you two dating now?" he probed further, causing me to hesitate.
"What?" I questioned, unsure of how to respond.
"Did you guys go on a date?" He inquired once more, letting out a sigh.
"What's the matter with that?" I responded, even though I knew deep down that everything was wrong.
"So, you must have enjoyed it," he added coldly.
"Whatever happened, it's none of your business," I retorted firmly.
He glanced at me briefly before turning his gaze back to the road.
"Yeah, right, it's none of my business," he muttered.
I felt a twinge in my heart as I looked ahead.
"Well, maybe we should just get a divorce," I suggested, staring at the ground.
He stopped abruptly, and I followed suit, avoiding eye contact.
"You could get engaged to Gina, and I could be with Yuvraj. It's for the best. I won't be a hindrance to your marriage with Gina anymore," I explained.
He quickened his pace, walking ahead of me. I tried to keep up but couldn't match his speed.
Finally, as he opened the gate to his mansion, I caught up to him.
"I'm glad you've found your happiness," I said, looking down. "And I will with Yuvraj," I added, swallowing the pain.
I knew my part in this story would never come to fruition.
I couldn't bear to be in the same room as him any longer.
"Do you like him? Yuvraj?" He inquired, turning to face me.
I met his gaze briefly before shifting my eyes to his shirt buttons.
"Well, I certainly had a soft spot for him," I confessed before quickly regretting my words, "but things didn't work out and I ended up marrying you instead," I explained, catching myself before saying too much.
He stared at me coldly and asked, "Do you think you can eventually develop feelings for someone just because you're supposed to marry them?"
I rolled my eyes in frustration. "Why not? I'm tired of pining for someone who doesn't care about me. You never bothered to find out how I truly feel," I retorted, looking up at him. "So, maybe Yuvraj is a better match for me," I concluded.
He gazed at me intensely and confidently stated, "You can try to deny it all you want, but I know you have feelings for me. You'll never be able to like anyone else but me." My heart raced at his words, rendering me speechless.
"How can you be so certain?" I murmured, my voice barely audible as I realised that he knew about my feelings for him.
"Why am I mistaken?" he asked as I looked up at him, our eyes locked.
