As Friday night dinner approaches I can't help but think back to my weekend spent with Jonny.

"Are you ready to get scared?" I ask him.

"Oh please, but hey, if you need to hold my hand if you get scared that's okay." Jonny grins at me. I scoff at him, "Yeah like you'd protect me. You'd be too busy cowering in fear."

"Uh, I am too manly for that." He gleams while flexing his muscles.

"Okay Mr Manly, why don't you go buy us popcorn and I'll get the tickets."

We sat in the dark cinema room, pretty much alone, There were only a few other people and they were sat on different rows to us. It was possibly because we were in the last viewing of the film for the night so it was already around 9 pm. Jonny claimed it was for 'extra spookiness'

About halfway through I lean over to him and whisper, "Scared yet?"

"Not a chance."

However, I felt his hand slowly place itself over mine.

Jonny and Adam were both there to pick me up, I greet them as I sit in the backseat of Jonny's car.

"At least your car is working again," I say to Jonny and he nods, meanwhile, Adam looks confused. I wonder if Jonny mentioned that it had broken down last week.

Anyway, I decide against asking about the binbag that Adam is holding. Once we are parked on the driveway, before even making it to the door,

"Here you go pissface." Adam launches the bag at Jonny who catches it but starts trying to kick Adam.

"You both nearly had me convinced you were adults, guess not." I laugh at them both and walk past them, grabbing the keys from Jonny and opening the door. They both continue to mock each other and I'm just trying to take my coat off in peace.

"Can't believe you're getting mum to wash all of your clothes." Adam ridicules, which helps me deduce the contents of the bin bag.

"Ah yes, because I chose to have a broken boiler and not hot water." Jonny snaps back

"You should've mentioned." I tell Jonny, "I have a cousin who fixes boilers, he always helps with mine."

He nods, "Thanks. I might have to take you up on that."

Meanwhile, Martin steps out of the bathroom, shirtless of course. I go to greet him but he sneezes all over Jonny.

"Jesus Dad!" Jonny complains.

"I've got a lousy cold," Martin complains.

"Yeah and now so do I!"

Jonny isn't too happy but Adam seems to be enjoying the scene unfolding. I decide to step away from Martin as I don't particularly want to get ill.

Jackie appears from the kitchen to check if everything's alright.

"Martin can you please stop sneezing on everyone." She says as if she's already had to tell Martin this before.

Adam and I begin to make our way into the kitchen but not before we hear Martin complain about how hot it is and that if he could rip off his skin he would. Adam questions this mysterious box on the side and Jackie ominously tells us it's a surprise.

Jonny chucks his bin bag of clothes onto the kitchen floor which Jackie promptly scolds him for, "Go stick it in the laundry basket."

Martin, who has also entered the kitchen, hands the laundry basket to Jonny and he begins sorting his clothes. I bend down to help him and our hands touch as we both grab the same item.
