As anticipated, the effects of the enchanted Long Long Locks potion began to wear off after a week. The long, unruly hair of Mattheo and Enzo finally started to shrink and fade away, returning back to its usual neat, short state. Enzo was over the moon, crying with happiness at his sense of normality. Apparently, he'd already been hit on my a couple of older Seventh-Year boys who asked him out for the Hogsmeade weekend, much to his absolute disgust and horror.

For Mattheo, no one dared to hit on him. Perhaps, everyone recognised that cold, bone-chilling glare of his when they saw him walking down the hallway. Mattheo's mind was focussed elsewhere however. The humiliation and the memory of Emerson's wide smirk still lingered in his mind, serving as a constant reminder of the prank. During Potions lessons that week, he made it his mission to continue to interrogate Emerson to force her to confess her involvement with the truth but she was wilfully stronger than he anticipated.

Emerson gave him absolutely nothing.

Every encounter between them  was filled with a palpable tension as Mattheo remained determined to confront Emerson and demand answers. His frustration merely increased with each road block that he faced.

The week after the prank finally saw the first Hogsmeade weekend of the year. The anticipation and excitement in the air was appreciable, as most of the students desired some much-needed breathing room from Umbridge's strict ruling. The bustling village was abuzz with students, thirteen years and older, their laughter and chatter echoing through the streets. The day was sunny, yet brisk as Emerson walked with Olivia down the Main Street of Hogsmeade. She surprisingly managed to avoid seeing Mattheo as they left, even though she had a sneaking suspicion he wanted

Emerson dressed warmly for Hogsmeade that day, wearing a cream cable knit with blue jeans and a matching cream beanie. Winter arrived earlier than normal this year with a fresh blanket of snow covering the Hogwarts grounds.

"Where did Hermione say we're meant to meet them again?" Emerson asked, rubbing her hands in front of her to generate some heat.

"The Hog's Head, it's down this side street here," Olivia gestured to the left, where they diverted from the main road. At the top of the street, stood a small inn that looked nowhere near as inviting as the Three Broomsticks. The wooden sign out the front was battered and frail, with a picture of a wild boar's severed head leaking blood onto the white cloth around it. Hermione chose the location well, it was clearly deserted and vacant of other students.

"Dodgy," Emerson echoed both of their initial preconceptions, but they didn't hesitate or turn away. This meeting was far too important for them to walk away now. She knew what it meant, for herself and for Cedric.

Before they could enter however, they heard the mutual holler of their names. Fred, George and their best friend, Lee Jordan, jogged up to them, grinning. They were carrying large paper bags from Zonko's Joke Shop, clearly stocked with half of the entire store. Emerson and Olivia met Lee previously, after spending an abundance of their time around Fred and George this year.
