In the weeks following Fred and George's spectacular exit, the story of Fred and George's departure from Hogwarts could be heard throughout the corridors, grounds and classrooms in loud whispers and laughter.

But it wasn't just the conversation that was pronounced in the school, it was the sudden wave of pranksters that somehow followed as well.

Hogwarts had transformed into a rebellious playground. Students from every house, inspired by the Weasley twins' defiance, seemed to make it their mission to carry on their legacy.

Pranks and chaotic stunts became an almost daily occurrence. It was as if the entire school had collectively decided that if the twins couldn't be there to make Umbridge's life as difficult and as miserable possible, they would do it for them.

Since the role of troublemaker was now vacant, many students tried to pull similar stunts and cause havoc by frequently dropping Dungbombs and Stink Pellets randomly in corridors and classes, particularly around the third floor. Lee managed to slip his gifted niffler into Umbridge's office which destroyed the interior from top to bottom in its search for shiny objects.

Filch prowled the corridors with his whip ready in his hands, desperate to catch any miscreants, but he was far too outnumbered. His associates in the Inquisitorial Squad were being pranked more than usual, finding themselves to be targets from jinxes and curses. Mattheo was internally glad that he no longer wore that ridiculous badge on his robes, because it was a beacon for trouble nowadays. They all ended up in the Hospital Wing, and Montague was still nowhere to be found.

In Defence Against the Dark Arts, random students were found fainting, vomiting, developing dangerous fevers or having nose bleeds. They each claimed that they were suffering from 'Umbridge-itis.' Although Umbridge shrieked with rage and frustration and put four successive classes in detention, she was unable to discover the secret of the Skiving Snackboxes that Fred and George sold during their last year at Hogwarts. She lost the battle and watched sourly as bleeding, swooning, sweating and vomiting students left her classes in waves.

Even Peeves was honouring Fred and George's departure with such chaos in his stride. It wasn't a surprise to spot him flooding floors, upending tables, smashing up furniture, throwing stacks of parchment into fires or out of windows and dropping bags of tarantulas in the Great Hall during meals. Twice, he shut Mrs Norris inside suits of armour until she was rescued by Filch. Whenever he was somehow bored, he would spend hours at a time floating along after Umbridge and blowing loud raspberries every time she spoke.

The rest of the teachers didn't even bother to punish the students or Peeves after Fred and George's departure. It was obvious they were turning a blind eye to the mischief that was happening right in front of them.

Umbridge herself appeared to be unraveling at the seams. Her once rigid demeanor was giving way to barely contained fury, and it was common to see her stalking the halls, pink-clad fists clenched in frustration as she barked orders at Filch, who was unable to clear away the lingering remnants of the swamp Fred and George left behind. They spent hours attempting to remove it, but without success. No spell, charm, or incantation that Unbridge could muster was able to rid the castle of the marshland, much to the delight of the students who took every opportunity to remind Umbridge of her failure.
